That's a pretty good resume Obion has the last few years.....similar to McMinn Central, who finally brought home the gold ball in 2011 after several years of getting so close. I guess my statement was based on me being surprised that anyone would think that any team could waltz through Murfreesboro without being tested. I recall the Marshall Co. team that won the 2010 Championship, and how everyone said they were the best team there in 10 years and how they were invincible, etc. Though they did beat McMinn Central, the Chargerettes were ahead about 20 points at the half and the Marshall Co. faithful were stunned! And I still think if Central's head coach hadn't tried to sit on the lead in the second half, rather than run his offense the same in the second half as he did the first half, he'd have won his first gold ball in 2010.

My point being that even though Marshall Co. was awesome, they still ran into a buzzsaw that nearly beat them. Maybe Obion will dominate the AA competition in the 'boro, but I'd be surprised if they did blowout all three teams they play - assuming they win it all.

Looking forward to watching all the good teams that will be competing there.

It was Gibson County. I take you was trying to be funny when you said Marshall County. I'm not saying that McMinn Central and Livingston Academy can't beat Obion on a given day. With the officiating the way it is in high school basketball, there's no guarantees in any game. Especially well-coached teams. Not too say you guys need the officials help. I just seen a different more focused Obion team last night. They had that look in their eye, especially late in the game. In 2009 and 2010, when we won it, Chasity Fussell who is playing for Texas now, was on the team with the same bunch now. They have hardly lost anybody in the last two years. They are my pick right now to win it. I could be wrong. I'm sure McMinn Central, Livingston and Macon County will be tough outs as well.

I think Waverly has a good shot at making it to state. They are playing very good basketball right now, having won 12 straight and are currently 25-5. Three of their losses occured in a 10 day span and all were in the final seconds. Last year they lost in the sectional at Macon County at the buzzer in a game their best post player wasn't able to play in because of a concussion suffered in the region final. Basically, the whole team returned this year plus they added a starter who sat out her junior year, but is now back and playing lights out. As a whole, this team is a lot better than the group that gave Macon fits last year. They are a veteran group (4 seniors/1 junior) with a good combination of size and quickness. They play good defense and are well balanced with 5 different players who can shoot it and score. All of this plus they are well coached. I know they have to get by Page in the region final, but if they do and get to host the loser of CPA/Macon at home then I think they will knock them off and advance. I'm biased, but I do believe this is the year Waverly makes it to the Boro.

Glad to see my post come true as Waverly knocked off Page then defeated Macon County tonight to advance to State. If they continue to play as well as they have been they have a good chance to win it all. Great job tonight!!!

Good call on Waverly making it to state. The relentless composure this group of girls has is incredible.

This is a great group of girls who have a lot of experience & you are correct, shown a lot of composure. They come from two feeder schools (Waverly Junior High and Lakeview) and both schools finished as TNT State runner up in their classification when the seniors were 8th graders. Hopefully, they can continue their good play and bring home a championship!

    • I remember very well watching things change in the late 80's and yes it's all schools. Most people that are in charge today have any idea because they were raised and taught under this social experiment so they don't have a clue. Anyone that does see the truth for what it is usually try and hide it by blending in so that the School Gestapo doesn't round them up and take them to the Fuhrer ( kindly putting it ). Yes it is all schools not just Maryville. This train ride is not headed in a good direction and if the public had seen a movie of what's happening now back in 1980 everyone would have been headed home afterwards to change underware.
    • Hoping to make the playoffs.
    • You are so correct!  It’s really 99.9% of academia want to change to way that education is not only taught but the way it is viewed.  The pendulum has definitely swung as far to the left as possible and eventually will swing to the right much too far.  I have always  said that politics and one’s personal religious views need to stay out of education,  but for the last 40 years education has been running full throttle to what we have today.  If the social experiment that we are currently experiencing continues it is only a matter of time before the public school system in the USA completely collapses and all kids attend private schools or even worse don’t go to school.
    • He was a bruise but Aaron Dykes is HVA’s best RB ever.
    • I am talking about what they both did for their team. They both carried their team for four years while they were both there. I wasn’t really comparing them that would be unfair. Bishop is on a level of his own.
