Word down at the lumber yard is the Rebels are looking for a new coach. Anyone know anything about this?

Word is past dc haggard would love to come back. He left thinking he was going out of the country for another job. Might be the right and best fit for the job. I think the players hated to see him leave.

I will throw out 4 names or possibilities: Snider, Southerland, Ray, Goodwin.

I can see Snider and Ray but not Southerland because he resigned from Springfield so he could be closer to home. I don't think Stewart Co. would be considered closer to home. Goodwin I believe is happy down where he is. I think he would be good just don't know if he would come back this way. I wish whoever gets it the best of luck and they will have big shoes to fill. Coach did a great job getting the program going back in the right direction.

    • Eagleville also loses Brown the catcher, Lamb CF, Mclemore RF (Heck of an athlete) and Drew the 1st baseman. They will be young.
    • Good thing we aren’t in Florida then huh? It would benefit a ton of the smaller schools  that don’t have the pools of kids to choose from! They should start by policing Shelby County like they do the rest of the state! Something has to change though and TSSAA knows that!
    • Correct, you can whimsically be fired in coaching. A coach that has tenure can stay on as a teacher if released from coaching. If you don’t have tenure as a teacher, you can fired without cause. Your last year as a teacher before tenure is earned you can be fired, but must be given cause. A tenured teacher can be fired, but it is a long hard process requiring the 3 D’s…. documentation, documentation and documentation. I have released 3 tenured teachers, 2 with PHD’s. However, teacher contracts had and still have clauses that state you can be fired for a variety reasons re: being arrested, public drunkenness, inappropriate relationships ect.
    • Hopefully you’re not signing off for good. There are a lot of Oak Ridge fans that appreciate your comments.
    • Florida tried urban/rural split two years ago. 4 urban classes, 4 rural classes. Didn’t work. Next year they will have 7 regular classes, 1 urban class for small schools only.
