Overton's gotten a ton of big plays on special teams from McAboy - and I think he's the real key here - along with Hillsboro's Bryant. Which one of these players has the better night, his team probably wins. Holt's got a ton more field goal range. Overton has better team chemistry and better leadership, but I'll give Aydelott the coaching nod. Each team has trailed just once in the second half, so you're going to have one quarterback on the spot in the final quarter. Is that qb up to the challenge?

Drinkwine hits consistently from 45 yards out from what his coaches say (about 4 out of 5), and how would you know about his kicking range? Unless you've been there to see it, you don't know.

this year vs. Shelbyville. Actually, it went another 15 yards through the uprights. With all due respect, hitting field goals in practice ain't the same as in real game conditions games. If it was the same, Al Del Greco wouldn't be assistant coaching for a high school football team the year after botching things for the Titans.

Anyway, how's Overton's field goal attempts gone this year?

Seems you guys don't much settle for less than touchdowns.

CAN'T WAIT TILL THE BIG GAME!!!!

"If Hillsboro loses, a lot of it will will go to Fisher not being there."

Oh please. The team has gone 8-0 and given up nearly the same average PPG this year as Overton.

Mr. Fisher is a non-entity, so give his former teammates (who passed their classes last year and busted their tails in practice this summer) the proper credit due. Tibbs, Bryant, Sanders, Perkins, Williams and Scott. The list goes on. They will strike ample fear into the eyes of Overton's offense. These kids are very much up for the game.

The final difference will more likely come down to a big play or two -- be it a turnover, big run, etc. Or it may come down to a more mundane matter -- costly penalties giving up key field position and stealing momentum.

Someone mentioned that one of Hillsboro's players is out. One player does not make a team, and I applaud whoever said to have faith in the players that did what they had to do in the classroom first. It sounds like one Hillsboro fan is already trying to find an escape route.

Someone else said that Hillsboro gets the coaching nod. What? Coach Anderson brought Hillsboro back onto the high school football map about ten years ago. Coach Robert "Buddy" Brown, one of coach Anderson's assistants then took over and did a great job. Adelott ( I hope I spelled that right) is a great football coach. But can anyone honestly say that he is better than Overton's coach Anderson?

I never said he didn't. I honestly have never seen him kick. All I was saying was that you can't count the Overton kicking game out. And KP9481, I didn't say Drinkwine couldn't hit from further out. I just said he is "consistent" from 45. I also totally agree that kicking in practice is different. The atmosphere is probably the biggest difference. But I'd say that won't affect Drinkwine too much. From what I've seen of him in other sports, he lives for the high pressure situations.

Man I can't wait for this game! It's gonna be a good one. See ya'll tonight.

I've seen them both...Holt has got one of the strongest legs in the mid-state....That's no slight to Drinkwine, but it's the truth.

    • Gleason all over west Carroll in scrimmage. Gleason is big and fast
    • Defending 2A state Champs Westview Lady Chargers are pretty tough. They lost a bunch of production off last year's squad but returned some talent as well. They still McCall Simms, a Tennesseee Lady Vol softball commit as well as solid talent around the diamond. I dont think they are as good as last season but they will definitely be a tough out. Huntingdon Lady Mustangs seem to be pretty stout as well. Don't know much about Riverside other than Westview defeated them earlier in regions. West Tennessee softball is pretty solid all around id say.
    • Eagleville couldn’t catch up to Jones, he did have his location issues but in that game Eagleville popped up everything and the one hit they did have could have been ruled an error. Jeffcoat was a lot sharper in the beginning of the season last year than the end. ER ran out of pitching and still was in striking distance but none the less the better team one. Last seasons tournament was A LOT more balanced and talented. South Pitts starter is a Lefty who was low 80’s but couldn’t maintain his velo throughout the  outing, their #2 was more impressive last year, we knocked him around this year and his mph was down some. Their #3 isn’t bad neither, throws a lot of strikes and sits high 70’s.
    • He actually had a really solid spring.  I could see him getting some backup snaps on offense and be a regular on special teams.  Really athletic kid who can run.
