Public versus Private Schools is NOT the problem in A-AA

This Public versus Private school argument is obviously not the issue going on with the discrepancy in level of play, so separation of the two into a public and private school division will never truly address the issue. The problem is INITIALS VERSUS SYLLABLES...

Let me explain:

It seems that the better schools in A-AA are the INITIAL SCHOOLS, example: CCS, CAK, CPA, etc (I'll call them the ISTs-Intial School Teams)....and the lesser schools actually go by their real names.,( and in this area we have better teams with less syllables in their names (More syllables=Weaker team))

Let's take the state tournament in this years A-AA division for example:

QUARTER FINALS:

CCS (IST)- 5

Elizabethton (5 Syllable Team, yes FIVE!) 0

*** With this many syllables, they didn't stand a chance against an IST...

CPA (IST) 2

Sacred Heart (3 Syllable Team) 0

WHITE HOUSE ( A Syllable team, but 2) 2

Notre Dame (3 Syllable team) 1

*** More syllables= weaker team

CAK (IST) 5

Liberty ( 3 Syllable team) 0

Notice the score discrepancies, the more syllables a team has ?

SEMI-FINALS:

CCS (IST) 0

CPA (IST) 1

*** When 2 ISTs compete, the score is very close, as it should be

CAK (IST) 2

White House (2 Syllable team) 0

FINALS:

With 2 ISTs playing, it will be very close

Still a skeptic? Let me pose more stats...with something I am familiar with, Division 7 A-AA...

1st place: NOTRE DAME (3 syllable school)

2nd place: CCS (IST)

3rd place: Signal Mountain ( 4 syllables school)

4th place: Sequatchie County (5 syllable school)

5th place: Marion County (5 syllable school)

Now, under scrutiny, one would easily recognize an issue with a syllable school over a IST, but this is a slight deviation from the norm this season, as in the past few years, CCS has indeed been the 1st place team in this division...and as the more syllabled schools are lower in ranking...but the rest fall into place.

So my proposal is to not simply try and separate the public versus privates schools, but to really look at the core cause for the disparity in the teams, that is it obviously is MUCH less expensive to logo the jerseys, the soccer bags, the tshirts, the hats, etc. if less letters are required to produce these items. That savings translates to more money in the school's budget that obviously pays for better coaches, better facilities, better players, etc. and buying that championship...so I would propose the TSSAA look at putting the ISTs and possible the 1 syllable teams (and maybe add 2 syllables, more investigation may be required) into the same division since they historically have been competitive, and then allow the other more syllabatic teams to be in the other division....and the world may be at peace...Kumbaya..my friends, Kumbaya

From this point on DeKalb County would like to be refered to as DC, (are less initials better?) and if anyone has any star players with parents that want to be assistant coaches.... Or if any players would like to travel from 50 miles away to play at our school.... Hey, what ever works, right? Boys are already asking to go to weight room,,,I'm excited.

Try charging tuition. It works for Alcoa in football.

Such eloquent and rosy prose, contained here in, is so seldom found amongst the more jocular subset of our species. The brilliant author behind such poetic use of an obviously deep and broad vernacular, reminds me of the other-worldly talents of Oscar Wilde. I humbly thank you, kind sir, for so generously sharing your elegantly loquacious gifts. The Goat sez: You better watch your back, Lord Byron, I’m sure poetry isn’t the only talent and passion that the author shares with Oscar Wilde.
