Lebanon Head Coaching Search

Recommended Posts

Guest Termite

The coach that had the job has decided not to take it. Search will continue.

If this is the case, who had the job? And who is likely to be the coach now?

Talk in these parts was that Lebanon had JM and some of his assistants targeted.

i would think that anyone who did apply would have a vision, personally i heard of david martin and coach mcneal of FCS, and you are correct, with coach perry and wilson county, coupled with FCS diving into the talent level of wilson county it is an uphill battle. Of what they intended to do brIng Lebanon back to a state of first being competitive: things not in any particular order would be:

1) introduce the forward pass as an offensive concept

2) be very multiple from a formation standpoint

3) get the school, community and most importantly the players excited about football

4) not cheat and be a role model for player's, we all make mistakes and that includes everyone

5) develop a great working relationship with the cumberland university coaching staff

6) recruit the hallways, soccer, baseball, basketball and track teams for specialists that could make you better on special teams and more athletic at every position

however, very rarely is the best person for the job hired, it is often political, a hiring of ones friends...hiring the best person is almost an after thought, just the way it is....no need in crying over spilt milk. The kids need help, they need high energy as well as a proven winner....you can turn the thing around or you can wallow in mediocrity for another couple of years and let teams get further ahead of you....lebanon used to be a tough programs years ago, i played against them a few times while in high school and hate to see it where it is now...i have heard of the 3 people interviewed and it was a done deal before it started......

I agree with basically all of what you said except for this part. Im not actually saying i dont agree with it because i dont really get why you think it matters if they have a relationship with Cumberland's coaches.

Crain had been a coach at Cumberland and had a working relationship with them. I dont see how it helped him in anyway.

I guess i stated that one because i have friendships with some of the older coaches at Cumberland and respect their opinions. Never follow someone blindly, that is why you have your own plan and that is one reason i think you have someone who has won and has their own philosophy, i think that Lebanon deserves that. I think taking over any program, much less a 6A program with nothing on your resume as graduate assistant or even a position coach puts that person in a hole before things even start...the big issue is the hiring, their are many qualified applicants that are so much better suited to lead the program. Coach Crane is a great guy and a good coach but i think he had many strikes against him before he even started, he like all of us will learn from our mistakes and get better as a coach
