I've been to most gyms in 1A in the west and serveral in middle...lots of nice new facilites, but my favorites are the old ones.Scotts Hill's old gym(nicknamed the barn)had an enviroment that few could match.Halls facility stands out in memory too...havent been there since the mid 90's.Jackson Sun ran an article on "the barn" the day after the last high school game there that I thought was a nice tribute.Middleton holds the distinction of being my least favorite place to visit,it's not called "the hothouse" for nothing!

The Palace at Science Hill was a great HOT old building. The lighting was different and the teams were opposite of one another which caused visitors sub problems. It was a great home court advantage. Their new gym is very very nice but COLD. They need to get that HEAT working in there again to really make a miserable place for others to come.

Can't believe all the refrences about the heat!Larry Smalley at Middleton used it to his advantage since I can remember('79 until his retirement),and they still crank it up even now.No disrespect to the others, but I find it hard to believe that it's as extreme in every case,as I've found it hard to breathe it'd be so hot!I'd like to throw Wayne Co. and Gleason in the mix for the atmosphere alone...their fans both blow the roof off!!!

Least favorite is McMinn Central, by far. Hottest gym I have ever been in.

The Round House at Central is the best venue in my opinion. No better home court advantage in the state. All visiting teams hate it. I've personally never thought about it being hot, but you generally don't think about being uncomfortable when you come out the winner so often. ^_^
