I talked with a couple of coaches on both teams, it was a 3 way with Coalfield. They said it was getting a little chippy on both sides started almost tackling each other & stuff.

I was told both teams offenses were pretty good, but apparently the no huddle tempo that Clinton had going was very fast paced & the young Sophomore QB didn't throw any interceptions in well over 100 attempts. So they must have something going. According to their stat guy the first time they had the ball against WB they ran 30 plays in 10 minutes completing on 24 of those attempts with 2 drops. Thats playing fast with a high efficency. The WB offense wasn't quite as fast, but they said they threw a few picks, but felt they gradually got better as the games went on.

People remember this isn't real football, it was controlled & they brought the ball back to the line of scrimmage after every snap. Sounds like all 3 of these teams were working hard & getting better, thats what 7 on 7 is for, if you don't believe me read the George Quarles article on prep xtra. It is a whole different game when you throw the lineman in & have a pass rush to deal with.

Good luck to both teams this season.

Personally, i hope Clinton is improving. It makes our games between them that much more fun when both teams are good teams. They just haven't brought much to the table the past few years. Don't mean to talk down on them, but just going by what i have seen the past few years. Hopefully they will be improved this year. I'm sure it's killin' the good ol folks of Clinton to have such a bad team in recent memory. On the other hand, like you said. It's 7 on 7, you can't tell much.

I think they have some good players, but they are very far from being any kind of fluid in their offense. They had some big plays by throwing it to the fast kid. Other than that I didn't see anytime where they were consistent in moving the ball. In one I saw Maryville and Campbell County got off almost 30 plays apiece before South Doyle and WB got through 10 each. You can tell they aren't entirely sure of what is going on. Understandable when they are mixing two different passing systems. One of which is extremely complicated with college kids let alone HS kid to get in a few months.
