Great atmosphere at Father Ryan High School.

Absolute complete domination by the Irish.

Very disappointing to see the MBA kid at 220 taunting the Ryan fans after his win and their team down 37-9. Quite surprised Coach Frank Simpson allowed that to happen without disciplining him immediately. They are better than that, but might have been caught up in the moment.

Ryan looks locked and loaded for the State Duals.

Coach Simpson lost a point because he called a "caution" from the bench and the official deducted him a point and said let the official make that call.

It was totally different than a wrestler telling the Father Ryan fans to be quiet by putting a finger over his mouth and waving to the empty bleachers on the MBA side to get fired up when his team was down 37-9 and lost 11 of 13 matches. It was very disappointing.

Not a classy move by the kid wrestling for a very classy coach and program who would not have wanted that to happen tonight.

Let's be honest and say that MBA does not have the talent this season that they have had in the past. They are strong at 126, 195, 220 and Hwy. The kid that wrestled at 152 looked like he could be dangerous and had a good tournament at the prep slam but was dominated until the last 5 seconds against the FR wrestler. It was announced that FR only had four seniors in the lineup this season and one of them had a loss last evening against the Big Red. With five of the FR starters being freshmen or sophmores and a sophmore state runner-up not being able to crack the lineup this season I am not sure that the Purple Irish are ready to compete in a dual with a senior dominated CBHS team. In the individual state tournament where it's possible to get some help from other teams by knocking off good wrestlers, FR may have a chance against CBHS if they wrestle their very best for two day's. Next season should be the year for the Purple Irish to start flexing their muscle. With Adam Koballa the new club coach for Nashville Catholic, the addition of Eli King into the FR lineup next season and Vince Gioiella still visiting at times I see the Spring & Summer training program taking the Purple Irish program another level very quickly.

    • What you are saying is true about high school athletics being a privilege and not a right, but NO ONE ever knows what will happen if a case goes before a jury.  Again, I have been in a couple of jury rooms and it's always a little crazy.  That is why my prediction is you will see a settlement before the case goes to trial.
    • What rules does everyone not operate by?
    • So you want a have and have not split? Sound like the perfect ramp to elitism. Tell those rural kids that they'll never be able to compete with those urban kids. They're not good enough right? Or we could just do what travel baseball does and have tournaments every weekend and give kids big fake rings for winning a few games. The suburban public schools are typically the ones with more funds. Urban and rural schools have more in common in finances than they do with rural schools. I've taught and coached in all of it. The difference is attitude. But if you're jsut going to say you can't compete because you don't have the money then that's an excuse. Especially in basketball. The balls are the same size, the rims are the same height and size. The ball dribbles the same in some rural gym in mountains as it does in the FedEx forum. Charters come and go like a fart in the wind. They are no real threat to anyone. Magnets could be but rarely do they win either. It just hasn't been seen in Tennessee.
    • That’s a good line. Wins would be Soddy, Howard, and Ooltewah. Maybe East Ham again or Knox Central. Tyner maybe but being that late in the year it’s hard to say. I don’t think we get by Red Bank this year.    Rhea could be anywhere from 2-8 to 6-4.
    • I agree with the Farragut and Bradley claim. Those will both be wins. Bearden like you say is depending on when you get them in comparison to when the wheels fall off.  As far as West goes I’m 50-50. They have been able to reload so far so until they show me they haven’t I can’t count them out.
