I think the trojans will definitely be tough. Is Briar Daniels back this year? Summertown will have some pitching depth. Field play will be good, but not sure if they will have the bats to make it too the top.

Not sure about Briar, I know he got hurt but I have not heard how he is doing. Hopefully he will be okay and able to return.

 

As for Loretto they lost one player from last year, Gowen which was our best hitter and second baseman. Loretto returns all their pitching, which is primarily made up of sophmores, one junior, and one senior. Also return all their starters on defense, except for 2nd. Dont really know what to expect from them, with only losing one player and several teams losing a lot of starters I would suspect that we should be better. However, I thought the same thing about basketball and that hasnt worked out too well.

Briar is fine and will.be 100%. Look for him to get walked alot. He can crush like no one else in the district.

I believe the pitching in the district will be much stronger this year than last, so batting will be way more important this season.

I know Perry Co. and Waynesboro probably lost the most from last years teams, Loretto one, Collinwood a couple, but dont recall how many players that Stown lost, I know at least a few.How many did Stown lose from last years team?

Collinwood should be top dog. Theyve got all but two starters back and have a pitcher who was young last year but is slinging it now. B Daniel, J Brewer, Ben Ragan, Kelby Ray.

Waynesboro has got Peyton Bratcher back after sitting out his freshman year to focus on the weight room and football. Kid can crush the ball.

Loretto's annual St. Patricks Day tournament is March 14 - 16th. Loretto, Summertown & Collinwood look to have some pretty good match ups (not with each other but other teams) in that tournament.

So how are the 12A teams looking? From what I hear Loretto still needs some work with their hitting. Pitching is coming along, especially five of the sophmores.

Wayne County was supposed to be at the bottom of the district this season. I believe they will shock a lot of teams with their excellent pitching staff. Sophomores Isaiah Williamson and Chase Turnbow have excellent fastballs. Junior Tony VanEtten may not have the velocity, but with great location and a great breaking ball, he's tough to hit.
