Absolutely. Stones a lock, I bet their tickled to death not to have Alcoa anymore, and then having to get by perennial powers Fulton and AE. Their probably laughing it up right now.

There is no doubt that Buck can coach, but why would beating jones 50% of the time make u a top HS coach in america.. nobody from alcoa has said anything about Jones being one of the best in america. You also seem to forget that stone has double the enrollment of alcoa and should beat alcoa most of the time,when u have more to pull from year in year out.. last years alcoa team had 1 guy sign scholarship papers to a D2 team, stone had 2 sign last year to play NAIA, and 1 sign this year...

 

No no no, don't misconstrue that. Tony Jones was once, (maybe still is?) considered as the top assistant in America while with Bruce Pearl. Remember that there was a couple of MAJOR D1 schools thinking about calling before all of that happened. Nonetheless though, Alcoa does have a good one in Tony. Don't know if he'll be there a while, but he can get it done.

To all you that want to give Stone the Dist. 6 AAA crown now...not so fast. White Co. is LOADED for next yr and Cookeville is always strong. Cumb. County will be down losing 6 seniors but they played alot of freshman this yr. so you cant count them out either. Cumb. Co. was picked 4th preseason and they just won Dist. 6 AAA title!

 

BTW, CCHS freshman beat Stone freshman twice this year...the Stone gravy train is about to run off the tracks....

CCHS has peaked at the right time this year Coach Foster has done well, but I wouldn't jump off the Stone gravy train just yet. Stone is returning 4 starters next year, and have some good young athletic Sophmores. I will agree the CCHS freshman are a little better right now they are guard heavy and don't have a lot of size. What they have will need to be developed a lot, Stone Freshman bigs are better IMHO, and I think their incoming Freshman class for next year will be a lot stronger. IMHO it will come down to developing tallent.

Great job by the Panthers last night, they made all the plays they needed to win the game. Brock didnt get off like the last 2 games, and alcoa made Yoder and Simmons beat them,whcih they did.

 

Alcoa caught a big break with AE beating Fulton..CAK,Stone,Fulton, all on one side of the bracket, only 1 comes out..(maybe TJ got the scores update in the 4th and started playing chess...)

Im not saying Stone wont be competitive and have a chance at the Title next yr..they will! Im saying the the road will be filled with plenty of good teams capable of beating them. Im anxious to see how Capps does without a "go to" player like Rowan next yr. Yoder is good but he is not the scorer Rowan or Cole was last yr. The Ronnie Cox era of kids he coached ends with Rowan...lets see what they can do!

Really Stone takes check their schedule the last 6 years they go out and find competition. Looking forward to the next step AAA
