wrestlingelite
How do you guys think the regional 5 tourney went or is going? Wasn't too bad, at least not as bad as the refs were.
LightsOutWrestler
It was very well run!
Cknett
Tournament was okay. I thought the refs were better than some of the Memphis refs. I think the number of participants for the geographical size of the region was smaller than expected. What was all the chaos going on on mat 5 towards the end? wrestlingelite
CKNETT- Are you smoking some of that hash? Memphis area refs are much better then what were working Saturday. Leave it to the blue shirt refs to screw calls up.
Cknett
Not lately. There is only one match that I can think of where they got it wrong and two kids into OT. Probably what drove the chaos just off that mat. I recall a few tournaments in the area where a young guy screwed up calls left and right, argued with parents, and table workers. chevylover
I was fortunate to attend the Region 5 tournament in Dixon this weekend. It was well run and was well attended. The refs did a great job from what I saw. The only complaint I have was the large . camera crew that followed 2 of the wrestlers. I felt this was very disruptive and they were rude standing in front of of parents trying to watch their children participate. I thought this was an event to focus on all the young wrestlers to determine who goes to the State. What it turned out to be was a media Circus about one family. All of our children are equally important and I feel the officials of this tournament dropped the ball by allowing this to happen. We all enjoy filming our children in these events but were constantly having to compete with a large camera crew to find a place to video. I am sure the children competing with these 2 kids must have felt ignored. The cameras did not affect the outcome of the matches, but certainly was disruptive and a total nuisance!! Irish9
Looked to be two moms fighting mat side. We are trying to teach our boys character and how to win and lose with grace. This does not help. Need to do a better job keeping parents in the stands. We only need coaches ,wrestlers ,and tournament workers on the floor or mat side. And yes we need to grow the sport in region 5.
wrestlingelite
Chevylover-I agree. the TV show crew for the Great American Country (GAC) channel/network was very disruptive and disrespectful to the other kids/families at the tourney. They were there to film the Willis Clan: a family with 12 kids. The dad was the guy who started Real Pro wrestling a few years back that didn't last, but just 2 years. The family acquired 100 million dollars from the state of IL when Toby Willis' (the dad) siblings were killed in a car wreck. The driver of the truck (who was respinsible) got his CDL from the the Governors shady CDL for sale scheme. The 12 kids are into singing and dancing...winning national and world titles. Then there are the 2 of the 12 that are great wrestlers.

The only complaint you had was the camera crew ? So I guess it was ok for white trash moms going at mat side. Thanks Wave and Elite wrestling moms for showing your class or lack of class.
