Who will survive the DoD this season? Will Bearden make another run at it? Will it be Farragut? This year the regular season champ will get an automatic bid to the region semifinals. Now they are on the same terms as Brentwood, which failed to make it out of their own district tourney last season as they won a state championship. Who do you have winning the best district in the state?

Based only on pre-season results, it looks like the 2 best teams will be Catholic and Farragut...Bearden, who is typically strong, got spanked by CAK, CAK didn't even play Creel and Holt isn't playing this season...West will be strong , but probably a spoiler ,and I am putting them 3rd..Maryville , on paper , is strong , but hasn't dominated pre-season play( maybe they are holding back)...anyway..lets see how accurate I am

 

1.Catholic

2. Farragut

3. West

4.Maryville

5. Bearden

6.....etc...

May I throw something out there about a team from this area?

Please discourage students from all the racist shenanigans that go on when they play Lenoir City. I saw it first hand last night and the coach told me they deal with that almost every single game. Kids wore bahas, sombreros, and had fake donkeys they "rode" over on the sidelines. If that goes on every week, I wonder why it hasn't been stopped yet.

      I expect Sevier County might be pretty good, perhaps Mo West as well.     But I don't see either of them getting out of round 2.          The rest of the region gets smoked in round 1.            Except for those once-in-a-blue-moon anomaly years the NET big schools are pretty much the same every season.

      Wanted to see if all of you would lift up Kyle James family in prayer. Kyle was one of the best wrestlers to ever come out of Soddy Daisy and as some of you know he lost his house a few weeks ago and now his family and friends mourns his passing. Not sure if any of you were around in early 2000’s when Kyle was wrestling at Soddy, but he was a 3 time state champ and a Fargo AA along with going to Colorado to train to make the Olympic team. That goal was never reached due to medical issues, but he was an amazing wrestler and his family is as good as gold.       My opinion the 8 teams will be-  Greenback, Wartburg, Gordonsville, Jo Byrns, Eagleville, Bruceton, Dresden, and South Fulton. Gordonsviile is probably the favorite but I wont say it will be an easy road. With the right draw any of the 8 could win it.

      I understand Gibson Co. will be announced tomorrow with a familiar name. Not sure about So. Gibson.
