Best OF regardless agreed

Ethan Hurt CF (Harpeth) true 5 tool player who may not get the looks he deserves playing at a AA school but is a D1 talent without a doubt.

 

I agree on Ethan, but Mikey Minor played for an A school. If you have the talent, you'll be found. E divided his summers with AAU basketball early on in his high school career but he's been to quite a few showcases in the last year. I think most baseball guys know about him going into his senior Spring. I'm excited about his opportunities. He is a great, great kid.

 

Also, while I don't usually respond to these 'best ___________' posts because they just appear to be self serving, I think it's fair to divide the outfield into the 3 components. They are different positions. Left field never has to throw the ball to first base, so you can put a really good glove guy with a so so hose out there and keep baserunners honest. Great center fielders cover gap to gap and beyond. Good range and good arm required. Great right fielders have cannons. I think the most exciting play in baseball is the fastest guy on one team rounding second and headed for third when the right fielder is about to come out of his crow hop and unload. They are 3 unique positions just like 2nd base has different requirements than shortstop. Best speed in center, best arm in right, big bat in left if you are prioritizing tools. While most T-Ball Moms don't understand the logic, you put a guy in right field for one reason and it's not to punish him.

Great post - you have clearly spent some time on the baseball field. I totally agree you have assess all three outfield positions differently.

Please don't insult the intelligence of just T-ball moms. Please add T-Ball dad's and grandparents.

Ksgovols all very valid points. OF positions all do have their unique skill differences but typically what I've seen at AA and below is the one with all the tools is in CF. And not to discount your comment on Minor, but LH pitchers topping 90 will draw looks if they're on an island. Really hope Hurt gets a look this season, if not he will for certain this summer with the Dbacks.

      Pickett is good, may have a Mr. Football like season if he’s used correctly. One of the best teams Marion has fielded in a while. I think they go 12-1 and loose to ER.  ER has better players at almost every position. If they play discipline this year, they win soundly. If they don’t though…Marion could sneak away with it.

      I’m betting the house on the Indians. Pickett and Co will be the only team to challenge the Indians in the East. Huntingdon can in the West. I think Brooks goes 15-0 and has the first perfect season and state championship in ER history.

      Sounds like a great opportunity has opened up for the football team.  With the head coach of the diamond rebels making it official and quitting this week, there should be some room for the gridiron guys to benefit. I assume the administration won’t continue paying six figures to two former coach that quit to continue teaching drivers Ed. Thats pretty good money that could be redirected toward the football program. Also, with the more recent policies of pushing kids to only play one sport, abolishing the baseball program altogether would help on Friday nights in the fall. There is some decent speed on that baseball team that should’ve been playing on Fridays IMO. I’m not sure if anybody would really miss that baseball program anyway with it being across town from the school. The liability of letting players actually use the facilities could also be mitigated with closing the program. That liability seems to be a really big issue for 825. Anyway, it seems like a great opportunity is available.
