Cheatham Head Coaching slot will soon be open

Recommended Posts

I hear that the Cubs have gone out of state for 2 guys who will both be introduced to the boys on Monday. I'm assuming one will be head coach, one will be a paid assistant, and Holt (who has been doing workouts) will be the second paid assistant. The season begins 11 weeks from tonight. I wish the Cubs nothing but the best. The kids deserve much better than they've gotten from the powers that be and I hope once again they don't suffer through a horrible season because of the decisions of others. I know of 3 seniors on this upcoming Cubs team who have already inquired about attending school elsewhere in the fall. I know of another who has decided to no longer play football. I hope the ones that do stay are able to compete and get back to the playoffs. Go Cubs!

any word on the new coach?

Who cares? They've gutted the football program beyond repair and now what's been the identity for years from Spangler through Finley has been shoved out the door and now softies and spineless cowards who are "Curtis Cronies" will run this proud program into the pits of embarrassment. Cheatham County Toughness is dead. A poor excuse for a man named Stan and the BOE are to blame for this. Any kid with any hope of a future in football should leave Cheatham County as soon as possible. Go to Robertson County, Metro, Montgomery County, Dickson County, Williamson County, or Stewart County. Go someplace where you have a future and aren't dumped on throughout your high school years. Just Go!

Mintz is the coach. The past regime is gone. Good Luck to the Cubs! Stan Curtis, as has been documented by many on here, has made these changes. In 8 weeks we'll get a chance to see how well it turns out.

Finley & Co. won 67 games over an 11 year span and went to the playoffs 8 of those years. That's an average of more than 6 victories per season. The Cubs are coming off of a 12 win season and return a good core from that team. If they don't win 6 games this year it will be a disappointment.

I think they'll do so and earn a trip to the playoffs. Many others from the past regime believe that this is a definite possibility as well.

Asst Coach Jeremy Boyd - still at CCCHS but doubt he will be involved with football

I believe Coach Boyd is still on the staff at CCCHS. I also have heard that Kelly Delaney, Dustin West, and Andy Primm are helping out this year. I have spoken to a few guys in town and they say nothing but good things about Coach Mintz. As I said when he was hired: his record speaks for itself. Full pads practices begin Monday and I hope the Cubs come out with a chip on their shoulder after what has been a trying off-season to say the least.

    • Honestly the A.D. may be powerless at Maryville to some degree versus other schools. I know he has his hands full with GoFan and all the stupid surprises just from the emails he sends out during the season.
    • Harriman was better than what I anticipated. They had good skill guys and a QB that’s gonna make a lot of teams look silly. They had some silly pre snap penalties but it’s just spring and I guess that’s expected.    Oneida looks the part. They are big upfront and got a stable of backs that’s gonna carry them this year. They have a few playmakers at receiver also. They have a new receiver that has only played basketball till this year and he is very athletic. The question is can we find a QB to consistently get them the ball. They played 2-3 kids there and none looked great but they didn’t look awful either. The  defense is gonna be tough again but it’s very early and a lot can change between now and the fall.     It was good just to get out and watch some ball. I don’t know if Oneida has the team to win the region this year but just what I saw tonight I think they may be in the conversation come November.
