The State of Baseball

Revenue wise, baseball probably is a minor sport at most schools. Even the best programs would have a hard time outdrawing the football or basketball gate. Nature of the beast. Sonny Gray is a good example of a kid that played football and baseball. Josh Dobbs that UT just signed will probably continue to play 2 sports in college. While I think baseball and basketball have portrayed themselves to be year round sports, I don't think it's necessary if you have the athletic ability to play multiple sports. Particularly for baseball, when you're talking about fractions of scholarships in many cases, I don't see the payoff unless you're getting drafted. Same for soccer. Girls softball and soccer players of comparable talent get much more scholarship money by and large.
