A state champion from Franklin Tennessee on tv! Not nationally, world wide UFC coverage!

He was on one of Middle Tennessee's strongest D1 teams in some time...

This is a clip of history here on my FB....

Well, it's been a while since someone has beaten a Clarksville team by 30+ but it happened last night with a peaking WC team. West Creek was another victim losing by 60+

Looks like WC won by 29 which is less than 30, so the last time they lost by 30+ was when Soddy beat them a few weeks back by 38...I believe the last time Cleveland saw them it was a 49 point favor. West Creek lost by 50 which again is less than 60+. Centennial over Franklin 46-24 not 18. Also, Blackman over Sc 40-34.

If you're gonna post results at the very least make sure its correct.

Hixson coach Garrick Hall had one question for his wrestlers prior to the Region 5 showdown with Signal Mountain Friday night.

“Do you want to be the team that ends our run (of six straight years) to the state duals? tWe have worked too hard to break the streak.â€

To a wrestler, the host Wildcats said no way and then went out and backed it up with a 57-12 win against the previously undefeated Eagles (now 10-1).

“We did not want to be the team to sit home during the state duals and we made sure we wrestled our best tonight,†said Hixson senior Grayson Layne (132) who recorded a major decision in the final match of the night.

The Wildcats (20-5) came out a determined bunch using three pins and a forfeit win (match started at 138) for a quick 24-0 lead.

Jovarus Stegall, Ronny Huff and Landon Goforth had the falls for Hixson.

The Eagles, now in their seventh year of wrestling and closing in on a 100 team wins, won three of the next four weights, only to have Hixson sweep the final six weight classes.

Winners for Signal Mountain (10-1) were Seth Peterra (dec.) Cale Shelton (overtime win) and Micah Pressley (pin).

“Hixson wrestlers know to fight off their back and they were able to defend their region crown,†said Signal Mountain coach Joe Jellison.

“There were two overtime matches and two others decided by one point and we took two of the four and could have won all four.

‘’We need to learn how to win more of the close ones, but we are getting better and building a strong program.â€

Peterra (170) scored late to win in regulation, while Shelton (195) got a quick takedown to win in overtime, while Pressley (220) recorded a fall.

197 and Counting: Hixson coach Garrick Hall needs three wins to reach 200 and can reach the magic number with a sweep of the quad meet Tuesday at home.

Senior Night: Next Thursday, Grayson Layne and Jovarrus Stegall will be honored before their final home matches of their careers.

Congrats to the Wildcats!

I thought I would throw this out there since this thread got over 650 clicks on the pay 24 hours and the article has Zero since placed on the home page until I found it.

Side note: the region 4 Thad has had 500-550 in the same time period. Not bad!

Wilson Central defeated West Creek in the night’s other match, 72-6.

Clarksville High Wildcat wrestlers close out Senior Night with win over West Creek Coyotes

“We had some guys really step up,†Clarksville High coach Tommy Badon said. “You score points depending on how you win and David Reid (220) — giving up 30 pounds – didn’t get beat my much and that saved us points and Dalton (Halliday) (106) got a big victory for us and Dominic (James) (120) saves some points for us.

“West Creek is a tough team and I imagine we wrestle them again (January 21st) at the duels and it’ll be a barn burner again.â€

Getting pins for Clarksville High versus West Creek were Nathaniel Alsbrooks (126), Tom Huddleston (152), Danny James (160), Kiel Russell (195) and Bruno Reagan (285).

Alan D’Alessandro (182) along with Halliday picked up decision wins for the Wildcats.

In its opener against Wilson Central, Clarksville High dug a deep hole early-on by going down 19-0 before James picked up a 14-6 major decision at 160.

After their opening win to get on the board, CHS three of the next five matches from D’Alessandro (170), Russell (195) and Reagan (285) to get back to within nine points, 31-22, but dropped the final four weight classes to Wilson Central.

“We knew we had to get off to a good start and get some early points,†Badon said. “We knew at the weight class we started at we would end where they would be strongest, but we weren’t able to do that.â€

In the West Creek-Wilson Central match, it was all Wilson Central, as they won 13 of the 14 weight classes – including 10 by pin.

The only Coyote to pick up a win versus Wilson Central was Cyrus Whitted at 195.
