DB vs Tennessee High

Recommended Posts

Let me just start by saying officials effect the game without throwing the penalty flag. If you don't understand this then google  replacement officials and see how many were pulled for NOT making calls. It's funny to see so many simple minded db fans come on and TRY to contribute to this conversation. It wasn't the calls that these officials made it was the ones they DIDN'T make. They did everything you could possibly do on that last drive to allow db to advance the ball down the field. I guess the QB throwing the ball while on one knee is the most "in you face" no call and in fact was the call that allowed db the opportunity to even have a chance on that drive. Then you have the official in the booth not starting the clock (one time not at all until the play had ended). Simple mistake.... please. Then you have the refs taking over 5 minutes to take seconds off the clock right before the 4th down db play that won the game allowing plenty of time to allow a scattered team to regroup. Then you have the strangler no calls like the db player on THS sidelines that got pushed down and got up and retaliated right in front of the ref. He was so much into his trash talking that he backed into the ref almost knocking him to the ground in his tirade. The stats don't tell the story! Heck I remember one time none of the officials signaled TD after a THS score (it was almost as to say "dang I can't believe they are in this game"). These things happened but they won't show up on paper and referees know this. But it is on video... I'm hoping to pull some strings and get a copy and let everyone see the story the papers or stat book won't tell. I have to say though... I'm a true believer in what goes around comes around... so from this point I think I'll let karma take care of the Tribe.

Cap,

If you're NOT a tea party member, you have pretty much disqualified yourself from intelligent discourse. Hey, make an extra point! Don't let a high school team drive the length of the field in 1:40 and you get what you came for. TN High could have controlled both of those and they didn't!

You have a point in regards to the extra point, but you're way off about the drive. Had the umpire called the db QB down when his knee touched as did the line judge there wouldn't have been a drive of the length of the field.

Cap1, To say DB gets good calls by the refs at home is hilarious. Nobody in the tri-cities likes DB and most every ref is an alum from another high school.  DB does better on penalties when they are playing away from the Tri Cities.  Stats for the game.  TN High benefits from 2 DB turnovers.  DB had double the penalty yards.  The late hit on the TN High QB was not a good call and it was at a crucial time.  Also, Mitchell had one catch and let the game winning TD for DB go by him.  TN High did not play good enough to win.  DB gave them 2 turnovers and had key players out.  DB still won.  Hard facts don't lie, but you can cry all you like, it is your right.

 First Downs: THS 15, D-B 20; Rushes-Yards: THS 38-206, D-B 43-306; Passing Yards: THS 179, D-B 188; Comp.-Att.-Int.: THS 6-10-0, D-B 15-21-1; Fumbles-Lost: THS 1-0, D-B 2-1; Penalties-Yards: THS 5-36, D-B 8-84; Punts-Average: THS 3-35, D-B 1-33

They only threw Mitchell the ball two times. Shaq couldn't have caught the first one and only Adam Mitchell could have caught the other. Trust me it's not his fault that our team isn't utilizing the best weapon we have on the team and I'm not entirely sure it's on the coaches. You act surprised that DB won the game. Even if your team is down... we're not truly your competition. That has been db's achilles heel. They are so wrapped up in beating up on the local teams they forget they're in a 5A conference until that one game in the post season.

If these stats are accurate, Cap1 doesn't have a leg to stand on.  Cap1 has never lost a game without blaming the ref's.  Also,  TEA PARTY ALL THE WAY "WE ARE GOING TO TAKE BACK AMERICA"

You don't know a thing about Cap1 rookie. I'm not sure why I'm taking the time to answer a post of a supporter of a group that is holding our country hostage like a bunch of terrorist.

I'll say this first.I'm glad a Peyton Manning kind of QB wasn't playing for TH in the last couple of minutes of the game.He would have told their RB not to take the bait and score, but just get a yard or two at a time .DB would have used it's timeouts  ,TH would have at worst had another extra point type of kick{short field goal} to win the game had they not got the touchdown from point blank with little time left on the clock....2ed,the refs are consistantly bad at J.Fred, like my spelling.DB is lucky to get close to an even break at home with the refs.Great game to watch and heartbreaking for any young man to come out on the short end of these kinds of games.

I agree... well with most of it. Db fans are probably the only ones that feel they truly get the short end of the stick when it comes to the refs. Batman I have followed your posts for years now and truly respect your opinion. With that being said... from your point of view, did his knee hit the ground at any time before or during the pass? Real talk...

No affiliation with the tea party cap, just with the human race. Glad DB won this game and good luck to both teams in the future. It would be good to see a team finally make some playoff noise from upper east Tennessee.

I'm with that race myself Plumb, although I have to admit that I'm crushed that db won this game. Can you tell? Posts like this though are helping to talk me off the ledge. Thanks and sorry about the 69 reference. -_-  I too would love to see a team from UET make some noise even if it is DB. Right now we are the Rodney Dangerfields of the state. That needs to change.

I will say this ,if THS has a shot in going deep in the playoffs in 5A then, 5A is really weak. This years DB team is way down and everyone that's not living under a rock knows it. Cap you say what you want but if Casey would have been 100% the whole game DB would have won by 2 TD's. You can also run your mouth about 6a vs 5a but it doesn't hold water. I played against Bristol the whole time I was growing up and if they have a chance to run the score up on a smaller school they will. The Vikings got beat simple as that. Suck it up!

We could play the IF card all night long. Like IF the refs weren't such bums DB would have never been in scoring position. The statement about THS running the score up is simply not true. We unlike DB have nothing to prove. They never open up the season with THS ranked #1 in the state. I'm an alumni and have had two sons go through the system and have a cheerleader here now, and I can honestly say that through these 12+ years being affiliated with this program I have seen nothing but class when it comes to a weaker opponent. Can't honestly say that it would be the same in certain cases if I were calling the shots.

The stats are pretty convincing...out rushed, out passed, gifted with 2 TOs, the refs ran precious seconds off the clock on the game winning drive. Give the DB players some credit, they drove the field with virtually no time or timeouts and won the game. It wasn't pretty but they outplayed THS and deserved the W.

Why aren't you coaching or reffing...or both at the same time? It's obvious by your long winded responses to both the refs and coaches that this has you torn up and you obviously know more than anybody else on the sidelines or in pin stripes or on coacht! Good grief...grab your paci and blankly and take a nap. It's always easy to blame somebody else for our shortcomings...kind of represents where we stand as a nation. Goodness, it's just a high school football game.

Ok... If you had a proven athlete like Mitchell, would you only target him TWO TIMES during the course of a game. Yep.... that pretty much shuts your post down. It doesn't take a Coaching degree to see that doesn't add up no matter what kind of calculator you use!!! Mitchell is a superb athlete in my book and if he had a little more speed he would be a shoe in for a D1 WR. On the other hand if he had been used in the blocking scheme more he could have gone as a D1 TE. I watch him every weekend and I haven't seen a more reliable player EVER at THS. Word is bond...

Just a foot note to you M&G... I was blessed enough to have two sons that played at THS and go on to have there education completely paid for through athletics at NCAA D1 and D2 colleges. One of them would be a stepson that came into my life at 3 years old. Believe me I've put in my time!

Nobody mind CRAP1 and his long winded rants on here! I personally have been there and done the referee thing with him on a THS playoff loss in the past. They did call this, didn' call that, should of seen this one, did see that one but for the wrong team!! JEEZ CRAP1 get a life and realize that your team gets beat sometime and that you have to take it like a man (if thats possible for you). Perhaps you should go visit the players on monday and see how they and their coaches have moved on to next week and learn a life lesson.

Dude... if this is true why would you create a new profile unless you where a CLOWN in the past. Mind your business! :roflolk:

There were a few calls or lack thereof, that I believe should've went the other way, but any fan can say the same in nearly every game that's played.  I'm not gonna look back on this game thinking that anyone was robbed, but look back and think that it was a great game played down to the wire.  These losses, in my opinion hurt worse than 42-14 losses, but hopefully THS will benefit from this game. The players need to focus on Boone because they need to win that game in order to see the playoffs.

And I also don't look at it as, "You're lucky you caught DB in a down year."  NET as a whole looks down in my opinion.  Haven't seen Greeneville.  Each team has few good players, but I really haven't been impressed with any team in the area this year in regard to their chances in the playoffs.

Don't water it down 04! You can't worry about what these clowns think... speak your mind! We were at the same game... you know what you witnessed. Just look at it this way. When you get your pay check stub are any of these clowns signatures on it??? And when you wake up in the morning and look over, are you looking at any of these clowns (I had to water that one down a little  )?? Let em SWING as I do! Say what you mean, and mean what you say! Easy on the sugar.

It is what it is...nobody to blame but themselves. Shouldn't have given up a 60 yrd td with 7;00 min  and most certainly not a 70 yard drive with  just 2:00 left, So not going to blame the refs for that one ...BUT!!!..to get a completion with a knee on the ground after the back judge had already spotted him down ...just a little too convenient for my taste. But oh well... on to Boone.

Maaaannnn.... we have so many punk donkey THS fans that do nothing but read these boards. It is so refreshing to have ONE step up and put a little bass in his voice!!!!! The "BUT" was right on time! It's like the elephant in the room that NOBODY saw!

    • It is what it is. Sorry DFL.
    • One of the biggest loosing teams in Mid-State are the Macon County Tigerettes. I have noticed that the roster is smaller than in the years past. All the senior's have quit. We have a great group of Jr High players coming up. I sure hope they don't loose them, like they have lost so many others this year. With this young group of girls coming up, a weaker district, they should have no problem going to State.
    • It was updated this season, because I did it.  Linder is the school's all-time leading rusher at 5,156 yards with 2,436 of those coming in 2014.
    • Oh, I’m sure you did. Maybe you heard just a rumor, but considering we have a football practice field and a soccer field that’s frequently used for lacrosse games and practices, I highly doubt it. Let me change that. I know for a fact that didn’t happen.   Glad you finally stopped attacking a bunch of high school students, but still obsessed with the coaching staff for some unknown reason, even though you could name more than three (at most) coaches without looking it up. But now come up with something else.
    • You really mean the Price twin boys and Lyin Larry.
