Not good.

You don't assault someone in front of a full gym. This accusation wreaks with embellishment, and the TV interviewer wants to be the next Jerry Springer- horrible inciting questions to a mother who is clueless. I am not from the area, I'm just making an observation and using common sense. Having a prior does not help his situation; too bad because this is completely blown out proportion. The sad thing, today in education the parents run the school; administrators are so afraid of litigation, that teachers don't have their backing any more, thus making them expendable. This is a farce.

Put hands on student

Put stundent on the ground

Stradled student

If this is true, Bray will lose his job.  I understand he has since been arrested.  If he has been arrested, not sure the story was embellished.  This on top of being suspended for the first half of the year for breaking multiple TSSAA violations.

I am in agreement.  This is not good.

Put hands on student    "put her in a choke hold"

Put student on the ground    "put her in a choke hold and slammed her to the floor"

Stradled student     "He got on top of her, straddled her hip"

These are all from the article.  I read the article and have now quoted for your reading enjoyment.  Maybe you should read the article again.  I promise you these 3 things will be covered.

This is now the 3rd time that we know of that he has been in trouble at Blackman, abusing the wrestlers, trouble with the TSSAA for rules violation and now this.  Coach has now been suspended without pay.  Who is going to hire this guy in the future?  I believe his days of coaching might be over.

As I stated before, IF THIS IS TRUE, he will lose his job.  Also, not sure an arrest would occur based on an embellished story.

Blackman parent here:

The story was embellished a TON.  Troubled kid from a troubled family.

Its very unfortunate and Bray may well be a victim of the Blaze Drive wrestling coach curse.  (Harmon, Blosser, Hamm, Kennedy across the street)

hoosierdad, you obviously know nothing about warrants.  Anyone can file for and have a warrant issued on almost anyone.  The cops never spoke to anyone except the kid's mother and the kid.  That is a fact.

Since you seem so interested in Bray's misfortune, maybe you would like to talk with him about it so you can get the story first hand?  Send me a PM and I will give you his phone number.

Otherwise, for the sake of people whose livelihood may rely on the outcome of this, let's not speculate, gossip, judge and perhaps publicly embarrass someone when we don't know the whole story.

What Bray needs right now are prayers and the support of the wrestling community to which he has given so freely.

Glad to see this gossip section has only gotten a forth of the visitors that the the prediction and noise makers threads have in the same time period.

Coach Connell hits it on the nail! Educators are scared to do their own jobs and some that try to do it the old school way & to help wayward kids take a different course in life gets caught up in lies and "he said she said" scenarios without fair representation.

Heck, even parents, law enforcement and now "We The People" are practically powerless with the all powerful courts like a recent judge over turning a vote of 70% by Oklahomans, after the infamous California/DC ruling

Here at Blackman, two of my sons have seen several coaches,,, After Kennedy's big brother intervention, the new sheriff breaking hippa laws and use of criminals removing mats on school property,,, we saw Harmon, Blosser, Jones, Hamm, Shadowens, and now Bray in these rotating chairs. My other sons had one fine coach in as many years in Smyrna.

I wouldn't want that Blackman job and I can assure that gym class has a majority willing to share the truth! Hopefully they can freely speak, untampered

LOL....great post soms!  Educators are afraid to do their jobs.......like the alledged things that this coach may have done?  let us be clear, you do not need to touch teenage girls to educate them, ever.  I am not saying this happened or not, I was not there.  I will say that a judge typically has to issue and sign a warrant and they need probable cause to do that.

But you sure did add to the gossip thread with all that other stuff about hippa laws, Kennedy, mat criminals........good stuff.

Fair enough. Just struck a nerve after watching all of this the past five years. Bray may have touched, but not any more than you & were touched back in the 70's, and probably much less. Again, that gym class knows and judging from a $150 to get out, nothing major happened except procedurally passifying sue happy folks.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
