I've been on both sides of the question. I have an actual base to compare to. Do you? I've never seen a small college coach sitting in a high school clinic scribbling down notes on what the RB's coach at some high school has to say.

Sounds like you don't know many college coaches on any level, chief.

Let it go chief.. Stop hijacking the thread. Go to a college coaches forum. Let us small time high school folks be

Please teach me the ways of football and all things related. I don't know anything about football because I'm not a position coach at some high school in middle tn. Ask those small college coaches the reputation of Tennessee high school football next time you listen to him at a clinic.

I have scribbled down lots of stuff said by High school coaches at clinics. Mostly becacuse I want to know what the heck they are doing ahead of time so i can think of ways to beat them. Been a coach in multiple states and while the overall quality of player in Tennessee is not what it is in states like Georgia, Alabama or Mississippi, that is mostly a result of the athletes available, IMHO. Coaching quality in Tennessee is good and have worked with some of the best I've seen during my time in the state. Summit could hire a guy living within fifteen minutes of their building and do just as well as any College coach.

By your absurd comments it appears you don't even need to watch film or study the game on any level because you already know everything. Coaches like you are the ones who get beat by lesser teams and lesser coaches because you make assumptions and go in unprepared. You should go ahead and join Gruden's FFCA now to prepare for that.

The guy you are arguing with played at a much higher level than you and has been around the game, and some really good coaches, enough to know what he is saying. Lesson one, Grasshopper: It pays to know your opponent.

Glad he played at a higher level. Good for him. Put my resume against any of you who think I'm terrible. Last team I lost to was in Durham, NC by 7 points. It is funny that you think I need to watch film, because that is literally all I do from 6am to 11pm, with the exception of two hours for practice. Feel free to watch my team Oct 31st on ESPN, and you can judge how well we are prepared.

If you actually have all this experience at every level you speak of qb, your lack of overall knowledge on coaching football is astounding. make sure you have some facts before you start throwing out generalities.

How do you know anything of my knowledge of coaching? Can guarantee it is much greater than yours!

Hey man, just put the ego aside. No one cares. If you really are at that level of coaching, then why are you on HS message boards? Just move on.

This is a board about the opening at Summit. Please just stick to that.

I do agree with HighLife that a younger coach in the area would be a great way to go, however I have a feeling Summit admin will be looking for someone with a couple of wrinkles. Too bad. A young enthusiastic coach that is looking to sell out might be good to motivate a school and community to rally around the program

I did some research on the college coach who applied and found out he is young and he also coached high school football before college . The most impressive thing was he was voted conference assistant coach of the year in 2012… I also read where his dad was a high school coaching legend in Eastern Tennessee who won several state championships. This makes me feel better! :popcorneater: But has anyone heard of any other candidates who may be interested? What about an Assistant at Stew Creek?

    • And can you tell me who those two quarterbacks were, and every kid that was put into college from Bearden is a Bearden kid? It’s kind of why they graduated from Bearden.   and I would definitely not consider ETSU “waste”…
    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
    • Yeah and the coach is gone. Whole bizarre situation here. We played them a couple of times at MTSU last few years. She was a player for sure.
