  1. Thats what he said when he stepped down at Creekwood anyway.
  2. I know somebody who applied for the East Hickman HC job, but has heard nothing back. The guy is a pretty successful coordinator who spent his entire career in 5A and 6A football and has been an OC and a DC. Fiery, experienced guy looking to build a program & stay a while. Has now emailed the AD twice and heard nothing back.

  3. Perhaps he knows he won't be there three years and is fine with that. Anyone who has Pete Carroll as a reference probably isn't gonna stay coaching in the High School ranks long with all the money he could make on the College level. Yeah.....good observation All Region....ALL NFL guys do really well in coaching the high school game.
  4. First round was late last week. Cut to two over the weekend. Looking to name HC very soon. Believe one internal, one external. Not sure of names.
  5. Oh this was NOT your only issue in those many multi-posts. The fact is that the previous HC not only screwed Woodward, he screwed the kids and their families. The PRINCIPAL merely took the bait and ran with it. All of the adults in this situation are complicit. When parents get too involved in High School sports the biggest loser is always the kids, then the people who work the most in a program, the coaches.
  6. Now THAT's HILARIOUS!! This is fun reading. Kinda nice being on the outside looking in. Knowing all these coaches and the Overton administration as well as I do I find it quite humorous reading some of the ABSURD "truth" and "fact" that has been tossed out for general consumption in this turd pile. Basically only two of the posters who have been on this thread have a shred of a clue about whats going on. Figure out who they are and you will get your info accurate and up to date.
  7. Let me go ahead and end all of the speculation regarding Morrison. I just got off the phone with him a few minutes ago. He is working the concession stand at the Basketball games tonight and had several people ask him if he had applied for the job yet, referencing CoachT. Folks, Mike Morrison, per his very own words tonight, is "not applying for the Overton Head Football Coach position." He is going to "continue as Head Baseball Coach and do everything I can to help the new Head Football Coach, and this program, be successful." He also asked that people take his name out of the discussion and encouraged me to post this on here. So, that narrows your debate a little. For what its worth, I hope Overton hires the best possible Coach they can find, no matter who that may be. I will also offer this suggestion, some folks over there would love to see a Coach come in with a more modern fast paced offense and mesh some of the traditional Overton game with it. Mike would definitely be a huge asset in helping the new Coach do just that as an assistant. Also, saw earlier some debate about whether or not Mike was Offensive Coordinator. He was, in fact, the Offensive Coordinator at Overton for a while when I was there. He also did, in fact, call the plays for a period of time with Anderson occasionally throwing in a call in tight situations (as is the right of the Head Coach). Mike was an excellent OC, is a really good man and has been a great friend to me in the time I have known him. The next Overton HC is very lucky to have him in their corner.
  8. It still happens. There are several coaches who are not in metro that would LOVE to have this job, but won't apply for various reasons. Glad that Coach Anderson was able to retire on his own terms. He is a much better coach than some have given him credit for in the past. Its amazing how sometimes it takes not having a person in your daily life to realize what a critical influence they are on what you do every day.Work, I have told you a thousand times that there is something you need to take care of and now I suggest again that you get that done. Address has been sent.
  9. I have scribbled down lots of stuff said by High school coaches at clinics. Mostly becacuse I want to know what the heck they are doing ahead of time so i can think of ways to beat them. Been a coach in multiple states and while the overall quality of player in Tennessee is not what it is in states like Georgia, Alabama or Mississippi, that is mostly a result of the athletes available, IMHO. Coaching quality in Tennessee is good and have worked with some of the best I've seen during my time in the state. Summit could hire a guy living within fifteen minutes of their building and do just as well as any College coach. By your absurd comments it appears you don't even need to watch film or study the game on any level because you already know everything. Coaches like you are the ones who get beat by lesser teams and lesser coaches because you make assumptions and go in unprepared. You should go ahead and join Gruden's FFCA now to prepare for that. The guy you are arguing with played at a much higher level than you and has been around the game, and some really good coaches, enough to know what he is saying. Lesson one, Grasshopper: It pays to know your opponent.
  10. Yep, cause guys wearing 50s numbers dont matter at all.
  11. Antioch Maplewood Hillsboro McGavock East Overton Pearl Was hoping to be in Clarksville with my boys, but I have scouting to do since we have a week 1 bye. Good luck to the Burros and Dr. Cheese Pizza at East!
  12. Well, he did put out some very popular albums, plus he was married to Elvis Presley's daughter.
  13. Nope. You guys obviously have it figured out. Good luck.
  14. None of that is any different from coaching in Metro Nashville. There are programs in Nashville that have limited coaches. Hunters Lane last year had a very small staff in a 6A school. Glencliff, Stratford and others survive on limited staff options. Whites Creek and others work with skeleton crews all the time. Metro coaches cut the fields, repair equipment and facilities, all that. There is one coach in metro who is still waiting on over a dozen work orders he put in THREE years ago to get done. When it comes to understanding Cheatham County and the issues there, I assure you Metro coaches get it. The problems with your board folks are repeated daily in Metro schools. They experience the same issues all the time. Cheatham County has not even come close to cornering the market on ludicrous board decisions. There are good coaches who could come in and help you if given the chance. In fact, they might make things even better (I know, shocker, right?).
  15. Wow....thanks pot. Its idiotic to assume that they way Cody did things is the only way and that it must be continued. Cody is a good coach and a good guy, but even he would admit there is always a better way to do something. You assuming that its the best because it works in Cheatham County is shortsighted and idiotic. Maybe there is an even better way. Maybe somebody outside could come in there and win a state title. I guess that's idiotic as well. In that case, just sit back and enjoy the first round of the playoffs every year. No need to make things even better.
  16. Easy.....don't shoot the messenger. Just asking a question. I know Cody so I get that he was fighting for stuff, etc. What I am talking about it somebody who will stand up to them the same way Cody did, but isn't from there and can survive without the job. Someone who has nothing locally to lose and is willing to be fired, if it takes that, to do what is right for the kids. I get that there was a bad choice made, but wouldn't it also make sense to explore options? What if you had a really good coach who was willilng to come in there and do whatever is necessary to get the job done? What if this new coach was willing to work with the guys already in place and invest themselves in the community? What if this guy wanted to get the people more involved than even before and keep working for progress in the program? What if this new guy knows a BETTER way to get things done and win games? I just think that by shutting off the possibility of anyone coming in to coach there you are being a bit shortsighted and assuming that nobody outside Cheatham County knows anything about football. "The way things are done in Cheatham County" might not be the best, or only, option.
  17. So you are basically saying that since things are so messed up they should bring in somebody who is already in the system to fix it? Doesn't it make more sense to bring in a HC from outside who would be willing to stand up to some of this garbage and make some changes that would improve the program, generate even more enthusiasm and move the program, school and district in a better direction? Why is everybody so afraid to change stuff when it breaks? This is like keeping a flat tire on your car rather than getting a new one.
  18. I would have pegged Cheatham County more as a Country Music fan base, but nothing wrong with a little Jackson Five every now and then either.
  19. How did Station camp do in their scrimmage against HIllsboro Thursday night? I hear SC has several college prospects. How did it turn out?
  20. Analogy skills are just fine. Its like WWE because the team who is going to win has been basically decided before the games are played, barring a tremendous rash of injuries. Nobody was surprised when they won state last year. They have recruited well and Ensworth will very likely go undefeated again in 2013. No High School league is like the NFL. Not even close. Nice analogy, Thesaurus Jones.
  21. Cricket........ Cricket........ Cricket........ Down to only one man laughing now.... Cricket........ Cricket........ Cricket........ I kinda think that the wise old guy isnt really so wise....
  22. I would say that there are only two people who don't work at Antioch, and post on this board, who know those guys well enough to comment with reasonable knowledge on their coaching ability and both have now posted on this thread. The fact is that to achieve consistency, which is the toughest thing to do (and most important for the kids) at a metro school they should go with Peden. He is a really good football coach who knows the kids at Antioch and how to handle them better than anybody they could hire outside. They should move Chris Robinson up to Varsity full time in Peden's spot and get themselves a new Freshman Coach, or fill Peden's spot with somebody who knows their system (or how to coach in it). The only other reasonable option at this late time would be to bring in Bush as HC and keep everything else the same. Anything else and you are flirting with losing kids in the program, or having BA recruit them away. They need to make this happen asap.
