I remember reading on here few years back about South Gibson and how it would hurt Milan. Is this really Legit or just pot stirring.

Right now it was just pot stirring.  The SGC football program is young -- we have had a varsity team for just three years.  In that three years we have done pretty good.  First year we made the playoffs and were removed in the first round by Milan.  Last year we were undefeated in regular season and lost in the first round to East Hickman.  We had some really good players graduate and we have spent the year hot and cold as the newer players gain valuable experience on the field.  As the community grows and provides a larger student base we should get better and better.  Milan has had many, many years to build their football program.  And it shows!  I don't think SGC will "hurt" Milan for several more years.  But as the program solidifies from Pee-Wee to Middle School to High School it will become a real threat to Milan.  For now Milan will continue to be the dominating school in 3A.

Oh, I think we are going to make the playoffs again this year.  I hope we can make it past the first round!

Hard to say exactly.  Yes, his son is graduating and most likely going to play baseball or even football (maybe both) in college.  He will probably won't to see his son play.

The key question is does he have his 30 yrs in to get his state retirement.  I know he is very close.  That would make a big difference.

Honestly, I just can't see him going out on a sour note such as this last season.  If doesn't have his 30yrs in (which I think he is a couple shy..... could be wrong) He definitely won't leave. Combine that with the amazing talent coming up the pipeline and I would bet he stays at least 2 more years.

Thanks for the quick response. I'm sure you've heard the rumor too and with his son graduating that only leads to more rumors.

    • Why did the coach get rehired after she was let go as an assistant by the former Warren County coach and the current AD?? Is that accurate?? I am very familiar with situations like this. Suprised lawsuits haven't happend before. If the coach unfairly let the player go, I think she has a shot because it cost her a scholarship. No college is going to offer a scholarship to a player that is kicked off of the team. Not going to happen. There are bad hires like this a bunch and kids are treated unfairly by coaches that can't coach a lick and have super long ropes somehow. Amazing how some of these coaches get hired and keep their job.
    • I am going to assume you are not a lawyer, and most reasonable lawyers would not say the lawsuit has a zero percent chance in court. I agree with you that a coach has the ability to dismiss anyone from a team. However, Ms. Winfree was never presented with the opportunity to present her witnesses and have them tell the coaches and administrators what they heard. A lawyer could better explain the lawsuit and the grounds to you. Before you start making wild assumptions about the lawsuit, would it be too much to ask that you do a little legal research first? The lawsuit is dealing with due process, loss of property, and defamation.   You can read the lawsuit here: https://bdnewsletter.files.wordpress.com/2024/04/doc-1-complaint-filed-4-18-2024.pdf
    • The administration took the path of backing the coach and whispering to people that the kid was a problem. The reality is that the kid was never a problem on a team or classroom. The player says she has witnessed who back her not saying the f-word.  Why did the coach make that story up and other stories? I am not Sigmund Freud and do not have an answer for the ex=-coach's behavior..
    • I think they have they coach they want close to being done. I guess we will all see how this plays out. I hope the hire a good one. There are some players in the box for the next coach to work with.
