Well thats good, I'm glad you were sincere in your search for the truth because it wouldn't be nice for someone with so much knowledge of Tennessee wrestling to make a such an underhanded statement that I was assuming was being made.

And to answer your "question":  I believe this top 10 group will stack up quite well and certainly make their presence known in Franklin this year.

What are your thoughts?  How do you feel they stack up?

Small school wrestlers not part of Region 1 as a whole now? If not make sure you say Region 1 AAA cause I'd put Greeneville and Sullivan East kids up against your list.

How many state medals come from these ten guys?

How do you feel this top ten compares to all the other top ten from the other regions?

Just curious

There arent any state medalists but most of them were either in the top 16 top 12 or top 8 at the end of the season. They were all also young. All but one of them is now either a junior or senior. I wouldnt look over this group of guys.

How is everyone did you go to the Indian tourney Newcoach215? Looked like some good wrestlers came in by looking at the team list.

I was there and heres the run down

At 106 we saw freshman standout from THS, Trent Nelson, wrestle in the finals but suffered a loss to Hernandez of Heritage in the final. We Also saw Zach

Bynum from David Crockett come in as the 1 seed but finished with a 7th place finish.

At 132 we saw Corbin Hurley finish 5th having close matches througout the whole tournament. We also saw Jacob Cutshall from Daniel Boone finish 7th who

wasnt given any favors himself. Both of them beat Landon Porter of Morristown East in tight matches with Cutshall winning 5-4 and Hurley winning 2-0.

At 138 Dewey Pendley, freshman for THS, finshed 4th and Micheal Harer from DB finished 6th. They actually met up in the consolation semi finals with Pendley

winning with a 2-0 score.

At 152 Austin Frye finished 5th. Frye lost in the semi-finals to the wrestler that would win the championship.

At 160 we saw Palmer Begely from DB and Griffyn Broyles from MoWest both make it to the semi-finals before suffering a loss. Begely would go on to dominate

his way through the consolation to take 3rd and Broyles would split matches with Mike King from Beech to take 6th.

At 170 Tyler Dean from DB finished 3rd winning a close 8-6 match over a wrestler from Bremen.

At 182 Josh Spangler of THS finished 7th beating Sheehan from Heritage by fall.

At 195 we see Evan Rolla from Davy Crockett finish 5th

At 285 we had Blake Ruth for DB finish 4th

AAA Region 1 had 55 varsity wrestlers total in the tournament with 13 top 8 placers. Every weight was loaded and it was a great tournament to watch!

I saw alot of tough kids get pushed to their limits! I was suprised to see Storm Williams and Landon Porter from Morristown East not place.

As far as a team race goes between AAA Region 1 goes it was as followed

Dobyns Bennett-6 placers

Tennessee High-4 placers

Davy Crockett-2

Morristown East-0 placers

Daniel Boone-1 placer

Morristown West-1 placer

    • Groves got the ball over 20+ times. His son arguably played the best for East in that game. 3rd and long multiple times and he came up big to continue a couple drives. Please shut up for the 3rd year in a row
    • And can you tell me who those two quarterbacks were, and every kid that was put into college from Bearden is a Bearden kid? It’s kind of why they graduated from Bearden.   and I would definitely not consider ETSU “waste”…
    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
