So who has the better team up there this year Jimbo, CCHS or Stone?

I haven't seen either play.

Looking at the stats, both teams should make some noise in their district.6AAA

Big night for Coach Miller and the Lady Jets, 5 point win over her former Coach Larmar Rogers and the Lady Buffs. Huge night for Gina Dick and Kenzie Iles, and the rest of the Lady Jets! They played their guts out tonight. Both teams played incredibly well.

 

It was an interesting contrast in styles. CCHS was able to use their depth to help handle the CR size, and they kept the pressure up the entire game. Guarantee that both teams sleep hard tonight, I am exhausted from just watching it. IMHO the best player on the floor tonight tonight was Gina Dick, but I think CRs best player tonight was the big freshman #41. She is a handful, and will end up being a great player.

 

The biggest weakness for CR was their point guard. CCHS was able to rattle her with their speed and length. To a lesser extent they were able to bother the wings. Over all it still took all that and a great shooting night to beat them. Awesome win for a young team!

Was a great game, the 3 pointers killed us but I think we over come them, what really got us was the turnovers in the last minute of the game. We had more than one chance to win! Just couldn't finish. I would say everyone got there moneys worth tonight.. Congrats goes out to the  lady jets tonight for a big win!!

I have seen both play CCHS is by far the better team, Coach Miller is going to stir things up this season!!!

It was a great win and atmosphere at CCHS tonight - girls and boy's game.  The Lady Jets are just beginning what is going to be many years of good basketball - lots of good young talent there now and more on the way.   South Cumberland Ele and the Crossville Comets AAU program is the foundation of this up-and-coming program.  TCBinTN, you forgot about CCHS freshman, Destiny Carlton - I thought that she was the heartbeat of the Lady Jets tonight - big 3's and tormenting defense on their guards.  These Lady Jets are averaging over 80 points a game. Respect to CR though, they were down on multiple occasions by double digits and made comebacks - tough team especially at their home gym which is always the case.

Don't take your eyes off CCHS Lady Jets...with guards like sophomore Makenzie Iles, junior Gina Dick and freshman Destiny Carlton and a strong bench to back them up, especially when post Courtney Smith makes her come back, the next 3 years will be something to watch!

Hey no knock on Destiny. She was amazing tonight, although she didn't do anything that she isn't capable of doing on any given night, and I expect that she will have many, many more games like last night.

 

I think that Gina sets the tone for the team, and Gina's ability to stay cool after the first couple of possessions was key to CCHS being able to win. They couldn't afford to let CR get a big lead early. Victoria Lee played incredibly well last night, before fouling out. Teeps gave a great effort, and I thought that Coach Miller did a good job of changing up things to keep CR from getting comfortable. The big Smith Girl gave some good minutes last night, and helped to match CR's big girl some, as did Eldridge. I think speed with length, intensity, and depth made the difference.

 

I have watched this summer and fall as Coach Miller has worked with these girls. They have really come together, they have a boatload of talent and are learning to play together, and believe. If they can continue to do that (and I think they will) then they end up being a scary good team. I thought they could beat CR, but this is a year earlier than I expected.

 

That said the loss doesn't change my opinion of CR. They are scary good, exposed a little weakness last night, but Coach Rogers will find a way to cover that up, its what good coaches do. Not to mention that few girls teams have the length and speed and depth that CCHS has (and it was still barely enough), especially in the lower divisions.
