kenmynattcpa
NCS guys - if we win the toss, do we defer as usual? I say take ball and go score first. If Swo is right about UC ball control and they don't cough it up (highly unlikely), we might not get our first series till 2:00 in the 1st Quarter. UC has made 78% of their turnovers when they were losing on the scoreboard. That Veer seems to become "veery" sloppy when panic sets in. NCSDad54
NCS guys - if we win the toss, do we defer as usual? Or do we take the ball and try to get the first points on the board?I think we take the ball and establish what we want to do on offense. With the veer, I believe we would want to limit their offensive possessions.
NCSdad1962
Ignorant question - harder to hold on to the ball in cold temperatures? More fumbles?
orangefuzz
UC fan here, think the family and I will just stay home. Appears we have very little chance tonight.
kenmynattcpa
This is for the NFL but interesting: http://www.advancednflstats.com/2013/11/fumble-rate-by-temperature.html Summary It appears that very cold temperatures may have an effect on fumble rates. The average fumble rate was 1.79%. For cold temperatures, the fumble rate was 2.42%, a 35% increase from the norm. Add to that scenario a team trying to run a triple option, add the punishment factor (#52, #50, #58, and #44 dishing out slobber knockers every down) and the implied odds increase dramatically. Prediction: UC fumbles at least five times tonight.
