Maryville gloating accepted in this thread, calm down on the others

Backintn I'm going to have to agree with 5star about this tuition. 2200$ here on the Monroe/Loudon County line amounts to about 4 or 5 of my calves a year. Not cheap to me in no way. That only leaves me about 5 calves to sell to provide the gas money to transport my scrub to Maryville, buy him the fancy clothes(Nike of course) to fit in, and all that tutoring to keep him eligible. To beat all, GQ couldn't get his freezer lid shut down over them T-bones and Ribeye steaks so I had to hire Lloyd S. Collins to deliver a bigger freezer. So that's enough talk about cheap tuition! Only benefit I've seen so far is the garbage service( thx stars )!

193 kids at Alcoa are paying it, so they figured something out. Someone in a different post said it was around 100 at Maryville in 2010. That was unofficial and I suspect the number is somewhat higher. All calves aside, people are doing it in fairly large numbers. Do you live inside the school zone that your student attends?

So it sounds like you live inside the school zone boundaries...that's not the group being discussed. Its the tuition paying students from outside of the school zone.

Yep, you're talking about those three, I mean twenty three, kids on the varsity football team at MHS.

BackinTn your never going to get any where with your argument. All your going to get is smart butt answers like creb (traitor) and others who enjoy all this stuff. Maryville plays by the rules as they are. They are winning and that is the biggest recruiting tool they have. Kids that could start at other schools are willing to sit and wait their turn. The only easy way to stop ooz is to make it to where an oozer can't play sports at that school. Then you force the parents to move if it's that important to them. Good luck.

I'm not trying to get anywhere. I'm one of those that enjoy all this stuff too. This is cheap entertainment and no more than that. Maryville and Alcoa folks are so very sensitive. That is surprising based on their great programs.

Cue the "everyone hates us because we win" chorus...

That number of 100 was official (at least posted on the MHS site) in 2010.  I actually suspect there are fewer now because of over crowding and growth in the city.

    • Winfree's senior year was the season she needed to secure more college interest. That opportunity was taken away from her. A lot of false assumptions can be made about what happened and what the options are. Unfortunately, the former coach and administration did not allow Winfree to have due process. A lawsuit was filed for a reason, and it will run its course by people who conduct discovery and take depositions. Unless the parties settle out of court, a lot of the pertinent issues will come to the public surface. I wrote about many of the issues here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/11/17/grounds-for-investigation-and-suspension/ I interviewed Winfree after she was dismissed from the team and wrote about it here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/12/01/a-new-interview-with-sable-winfree/ Winfree had been on teams in Warren County since the fourth grade and never been dismissed from a team. The real questions are why was Winfree dismissed from the team, and why the administration backed a coach whom they did not rehire.
    • What is the hold up here? I have not heard anything in weeks. Are they waiting for the right person or is something else going on?
    • Per usual, we'll be hard to beat in the regular season, I'm sure. It's the post season that I'm more worried about, specifically the coaches. Maybe they'll be able to make some adjustments that will keep the momentum in our favor. How's Grays recovery coming along?
    • Something don’t add up here a college coach is not going to turn away a good player they need just because they didn’t get along with their high school coach
    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
