Blackman Wins Chattanooga Central Invitational; 8 Champions

On the strength of eight champions and 11 overall medalists, Blackman High School won the 2014 Chattanooga Central Invitational wrestling tournament Saturday.


Blackman had 195 points to Red Bank's 119, while Central (101.50), Tyner (75) and Harpeth (72) round out the top five in the 12-team field.


Red Bank had four champions and seven medalists, while host Central had one champion among its seven medalists.


Outstanding Wrestler: Blackman's Michael Brobeck (126) was the tournament outstanding wrestler as he pinned both of his opponents.


Best Match ...  at 138 as No.2 seed Tyler Christian (Harpeth) upset No.1 seed and state medalist Josh Feuerbacher (Blackman), 4-3.


State's Oldest Traditional Tourney: The Central Invitational is the oldest traditional in-season tournament in the state ... began as the Red Bank Invitational in the late 1960s by Lions coach Dr. John Farr ... when Coach Farr became a teacher at Central he brought the tournament with him.

Like it said in the paper they could not wait for Bray to come back. All the talk was about Bray and nothing said about Heath. You can tell that none of the wrestlers respect Coach <<Ha Ha Heath.
