Haha.... That's what we enjoy most !Kicking the shizzz out of BigWHININGtit schools in football and looks like the mat too!

He has a point here about the football. Signal Mtn. could have stayed in Alcoa's division like they did in their other sports but Coach Price decided to take the football program to another class. I laughed out LOUD> I think the wrestling program can be good at Alcoa but here again your coach along with others said they needed another division to be competitive. I think both coaches made the right decision.....Signal didn't want to compete with Alcoa for state championships in football and Alcoa didn't want to compete against Big schools in wrestling. When your wrestling team kicks the shizzz out of Cleveland's wrestling team, I want to be there to see it. Like I said in a post a while back....freaking scream for separation and then walk around talking like you can beat the big dogs. I didn't even need a crystal ball, what happens when you give medals away. Total lack of respect for the sacrifices made to earn it.

Coffetalk, I'm a parent of one of those wrestlers. I wasn't trying to taking away from Sammy. I'm very proud how well Sammy is doing and hope he'll be a good addition to the Alcoa Team next year. After saying that, the Alcoa Team wrestled just fine this year without Evans and will continue advancing forward with or without him. Nothing should be taken away from the other wrestlers.

Thank you matguy94. Very well said... Why does it matter what the split is? The Alcoa boys that wrestled together as a team this year earned their spot and deserve to be there. Medals weren't handed to them down there, they earned it.

I'm a chic and I don't talk all that split crap and big dog stuff... I just don't feel anyone should put the Alcoa wrestlers down for what they have accomplished. They have worked very hard to get where they are at. Who cares... I would say that about any other team as well.. Big school, small school.. Who cares. Good for them for all the hard work and determination...

I watched all of the finals they were in and I feel technically the best two are Evans and Renshaw. Renshaw simply got caught. Only reason I say Evans is the best on that team is because how well he does in big tournaments.

First you talk about Evans being the best in the region and possibly the state - have no problem with saying that if you back it up, which he did at the A/AA level. Is he better than Kramer or Shotts  - not real sure about that. But to now you feel you have to say he is best on his team too? Really what good at all can that bring to Alcoa wrestling and what relavance does it have at all? I'm sure no coach wants to deal with that possible rift on his team. Alcoa had a fine season and sveral fine wrestlers - probably best to leave it at that.

Renshaw may be technically sound but what do you mean he "got caught"? Are you talking about the finals? Dude put up 14 on him before he pinned him. I guess he got caught for 14 plus another 5 if he wouldn't have gotten pinned.

Hey guys, the only reason i voiced my opinion earlier was all year the boys heard, "Since Evans is gone to CA, they lost the most valuable member of their team".  I disagree with that. It takes more than one member to make a team and they did just fine without Evans. I just didn't want the other wrestlers to be overlooked for their contributions to the Alcoa Team. I do hope Evans stays this next coming year, he will make a fine additional along with the other wrestlers.

Renshaw happens to be my son and I will totally agree with you on the final match. He completely blew it and it cost him the Championship... I had to shake my head on that one... He acted like he had never wrestled before..  However, he is a solid wrestler and continues to grow each year. Hopefully, he and the other Alcoa wrestlers will work just as hard and prove they are state worthy. I'm proud of them all! Go Alcoa!

    • That was after the 2nd year of a 4 year cycle.  Since Covid we have been on a 2 year cycle.  So, there really isn't a "mid cycle" reclassification this time.   Idk if there's anything in place to address the issue of a school closing.  My guess is, nothing can be done.  This would be akin to the 1st year of a 4 year cycle, where a school has the 20% +/- but not allowed or even have the option to move up or down.
    • No reasonable lawyer would take up this case. I am not a lawyer, but I know school law in and out.  Similar situations just like this play out thousands of times each year across the country, even at the college level (i.e. Ole Miss)  The Plaintiff's never win...ever.  If I am wrong, please provide a legal precedent for me. I will be waiting.  https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/39431892/judge-drops-ole-miss-player-lawsuit-lane-kiffin
    • Yes Justin Cruse was named head coach
    • It used to be, I think it still is, a change of 20% +/- gives reason to reclassify. Schools can choose to play up classifications but not down. Here is the mid cycle reclassification info on TSSAA.org When Memphis East changed from a regular public school to an "all-optional" school in 2017 the would've dropped to A but chose to stay in AAA in basketball (baseball, and softball) Penny was still coaching there and with the players they had they would've beaten A teams by 40 and slept walked to the championship. Other Memphis schools stayed in their classifications (mostly in basketball) until the next reclassification cycle. Of course this is the same time that a 4th class was added basketball.
