Mickey Armstrong steps down after 5 years at the helm at Gallatin High School. He stays as golf coach and looks to focus more on family and teaching. Wish him the best!

With that said, Green Wave football assistant head coach Mark Wilson has been named Gallatin's head baseball coach.  He was a baseball coach previously at GHS under Jerry Joslin and has head coaching experience elsewhere.  He is an excellent teacher, mentor, motivator, and christian man.  The baseball team has a bright future ahead with several good young players, and Coach Wilson is an excellent choice to lead them.

Mt. Juliet High position is open. Jim Carter resigned to take the Goodpasture job.

By my count the following have all received or will be receiving new head baseball coaches this summer:

Lebanon

White House

Goodpasture

Mount Juliet

Gallatin

Barren County Ky

did I miss anyone?....I know we need a new girls basketball coach in Portland...just hope he can help in baseball as well lol...This is a lot of good coaches leaving good programs. Well at least 4 of the 6 have a history of being good, if not not great, and one was a phenomenal program.

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
