Gordonsville @ Smith County

Milan was lifeflighted.

He and another player went to catch a punt at the same time, muffed it, and I'm assuming he got hurt in the scramble for the ball.

I don't know if I've seen that many players get hurt in one game.

#5, #27, #34, and #26 all got hurt for Gville, and of course Milan for SC.

Our top 2 RB's, top 2 LB's and 2 starting corners.

Tough to overcome, but it's part of football.

SC did what they needed to do. They saw were we were depleted and went for the kill.

I was impressed with the 2 freshmen that came in in the secondary, #7 and #9.

#8 did well running the ball, but when you're down to your 3rd string RB, ball security is a worry and it showed.

Congrats to the Owls on the win, and I hope Milan gets better.

Now, one thing I saw for Gville, I think we have a couple of players that need to make up their mind whether they want to fill a space or actually play a position. It's up to them. No one can make them do it, they have to make up their mind themselves.

Our running game worked well, and I think we got a little desperate too early.

I was impressed with Dillon and #5, and if Milan doesn't come back, Kemp will fill in nicely. He's tough and runs hard.

Again, congrats to the Owls.

Your hindsight is 20/20. Your foresight...eehhh not so much.

Now his foresight surely couldn't have seen the injuries that would happen, to Milan or our players.

It made a difference.

But, the backups have to come in and step up, and we couldn't overcome it.

We had 3 backups on the field in the secondary at the same time, 2 freshmen, 1 sophomore.

I kind of hate to say it this early, but there'll be some building for next year with the kids that are going to get playing time from here on out.

#28 is yet to play a snap for SC this year. If/when he is back to full speed next week, SC's D will get better. #24 had a great night at LB, good looking freshman. Croz, his foresight was #20 being the difference by a slight margin. Regardless, when #5 and #27 went out for the Tigers, hope was lost. Those two are really good players.

Which kid is #28?

I hated all the injuries tonight. If everyone stayed healthy (including Milan) I believe SC is a touchdown or two better. Newton looked good for us running the ball until he got hurt which will be a severe blow. Special Teams killed us. I believe we had two or three punts that were shanked for about 15 yards. Which led to SC having a bunch of short fields to work with. Also, the snap-hold miscue on the opening touchdown could have been deadly in a close game (i.e. 2012) Hopefully Milan's long-term health is not jeopardized. There is life after high school football. I hope someone from Carthage can keep us posted.

    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
    • Yeah and the coach is gone. Whole bizarre situation here. We played them a couple of times at MTSU last few years. She was a player for sure.
    • This whole situation is bonkers. You don’t just kick your star player off the team just because you heard them say the F word; the coach definitely had something against the player, or somebody definitely did. Also, nobody has brought up the idea that the school blackmailed the college to get the college to withdraw the scholarship offer, not to mention that the coach who kicked her off is no longer even with the program; they were fired. I think this is a pretty easy lawsuit. I don’t know if she should deserve that much money, but I think she should get enough money for a full-ride scholarship if she cannot get one after this situation.
    • Oh yeah, I’m sure you are different people just always on the same thread for some reason, always agreeing with each other, perhaps just a bunch of dorks who would like to ###### and moan about high school football coaches do a lot of other students, so you make a football team and get a yell at them. When they do something wrong, but I’m sure you don’t like that, do you?   and I’m sure I’m aware of where you get information. A teacher who was on the coaching staff but was fired after the new coaching and staff came in and realized he actually had to start taking his assistant job a little bit more seriously than just wanting to make a little extra cash on the side, hardly even showing up to most practices, should’ve left with his buddy to go to Farragut. I’m sure he could get him a defensive coaching job, but I doubt he will be there in three years. Looking at the way Farragut is currently going.
    • It may be hard to believe but there’s more people than me that think you guys are a bunch of losers.    I’m sure the coaching staff, yourself included, cursed at a bunch of high school students. Nobody could name more than 3 coaches on staff due to the constant turnover.
