nrgrizzlies
Who would have thought Blackman would have the longest road to pull out a win? Riverdale's win had to be the most impressive though. Lavergne over Whites Creek? That was a foregone conclusion. So was Smyrna's win. Stewie was somewhat of a disappointment in their win: 17-6 over a team they dropped 50-something on last year. A program that new can't just step off the bus expecting a win and sleepwalk to a win. Oakland (not new) felt that way in a game at Lavergne a couple of years ago and left with a shocking loss. They obviously showed up ready to demolish Brentwood and certainly did just that. Sea Gull picks up a win. Does anybody else think the new plan that will let all large schools in the playoffs starting next season is going to take some of the intrigue out of how the season plays out? Teams will be sitting out starters in the last game of the regular season, etc.??
davidlimbaugh
Does anybody else think the new plan that will let all large schools in the playoffs starting next season is going to take some of the intrigue out of how the season plays out? Teams will be sitting out starters in the last game of the regular season, etc.?? In just about every other sport, everyone already gets in the postseason, beginning with district tournaments. Years ago 7AAA baseball started rewarding the regular season district champion with an automatic berth in the regions to make the regular season have meaning. Games are a lot more intense when there is something riding on them. Next year, the motivation will be seeding and securing home games for the post-season. This change, for 6A (but not the lower classes), may mean more playing time for more kids as regular season games will not be win or else? oldfan41
I would love to see TSSAA put together some kind of video explaining this new format! So we can understand how it's supposed to work before next season.
nrgrizzlies
Isn't the deal going to be every school with a huge enrollment get in starting next year? Example: Stewie, Siegel, Lavergne might all finish under .500 this season. Probably all will. If this is next year, they are all in the playoffs because they are huge schools. wilsontd
You may have to check, but I do not believe Stewarts Creek will be one of the largest 32 schools in the State next year according to enrollment. They may be close bit not in top 32. Need more info bit the Redhawks may fly a bit in 5A.
