District 5-AAA Media Day Poll

Yes, it's only October 1st but District 5-AAA held their annual media day and here are the results of the pre-season poll.

This post would lead one to believe that basketball is better in the Cleveland area? Why would football be stronger in the Chattanooga / Ooltewah area? Do the athletes not play basketball too here?

It is my understanding that Ooltewah had about 3 players transfer to other schools, two of which were starters. East Hamilton had their very best boys and girls player transfer to other schools in the district that are not located in Chattanooga. The outlook for this area is not very positive for any of our local boys teams to get to a state tournament in AAA.

Thank you for the details. If players are leaving that would explain the media and coaches voting the way they did. It would still appear to me that if Ooltewah's current football athletes can play basketball at all they should at least compete. Transfers are not a good thing for either of these 2 schools you mention and obviously water down the ability to contend for the State tourney.

I think Walker will surprise some people. Their JV last year was strong some moved to varsity with playing time and the transfer from EH should help.

Whats the coaching situation at Bradley this year?  Did the old HC come back?

I don't see how WV wasn't picked to finish higher. The East Ham transfer is probably the best player in the District and they have a solid group around him.
