wingman10
Common sense would say Huntland's game is in the zone and Fayetteville has dug themselves into a hole they couldn't get out of. . . but when you are dealing with teenagers, common sense goes out the window. The Fayetteville fan base is just as confused as you are Piratetom. And, as disappointed in losing games we should-a could-a. Moore County? At home? Really? Eagleville this year? Really? MTCS early in the season? Really? We saw the majority of these same kids make something out of nothing and succeed to the (almost) highest levels last year. But that was last year. We lost eight seniors, vocal leaders, and that's had an effect on a team that rostered around thirty last year. We also lost one kid who is a junior this year, who decided not to play. A beast at linebacker, he was a hitter with speed and a nose for the ball. This would have been a breakout year for him. This year we have three seniors, #32 is one of them. From the outside looking in, I can't tell that these three have assumed or wanted that leadership role that is so crucial with a young team. #32 gives it 100% on every down, and God forbid he gets to the edge on you, but with 29 something kids on the squad, playing offense/defense/special teams they all wear down. They don't give up, they just bend and bend and bend until something breaks. Coverage, blocking assignments, tackles. Most of these lopsided losses have been teams keeping up the pressure well into the fourth. That's the way it should be. But when we give up a big play and points early, then we are playing catch up into the fourth quarter. Right now we are starting a freshman QB, and he's doing better than expected and as well as we hoped. He has a small overachieving line protecting him (when they do protect). The couple of times against Page when he was able to look around he made things happen offensively and the whole team plays better. This week we have a couple of guys coming back off injury that could help. All in all, we have three tough games ahead, two of which are district games. The one Friday is the one all the FHS fans will put all our eggs into, win it, and we can entertain the idea of post-season play. One game at a time. . . . . Thanks for the thoughts. That was a good group of srs. I saw them when they were fr...Coach Palmer is a good one. Huntland seems to be very solid. However, I think Tigers will win. Huntland made a lot of improvement 6 or 7 yrs ago and watching a game there is much better for the visitors. Hope ya play well

Hope ya play well Coach Palmer is awesome. If anyone can get their heads on straight it will be him. He's challenged the whole team to step it up, not just the seniors. I also think we can win this one, but we have to come out of the gate fired up and not let up. At MTCS the boys waited until the third quarter to play our game, and use our speed and aggressive defense to get us back and make a game out of it, and we were driving for the winning score when time ran out. Had the winning TD in the receiver's hands in the end zone and didn't make the catch. I would so like to see our linebackers continually in the opposing team's backfield, but on the other hand, too much aggression and we get burned on screen passes / bubble passes. Page is the only team we've faced that ran those to perfection, but not because we were overly aggressive to the ball. I'm X's and O's ignorant, but MTCS, Moore Co., Eagleville, and Page to some extent had too much time to develop their plays. Take out the size and roster issues out of it, we can keep up with anyone when they buckle down and hit and WRAP UP! MT and Wayne Co.'s quarterbacks felt some, but not continuous pressure. They were the major contributing factors in our losses. We had them, they break a tackle, and bust one for big yards or a TD. They kept the chains and the clock moving. I am hoping Huntland doesn't expect much out of us, or have already chalked this up as an easy "W". Come Friday night, we'll be there with our Cowbells and horns cheering on the Tigers! Should be a good one!

PLAY4QRTS
Unless Huntland played over their heads against Forrest, Huntland big in this one. Don't think you will see the let down that they seemed to have against MC. Huntland by 28. Huntland 48 Fayetteville City 14.
rebelboy121
Huntland played really well on both sides of the ball. Might have been the most complete game they have played all year.
