Mine got her's Saturday in a playoff game. It was hilarious. She got it while lining up the wall on a set piece. This clown carded her for standing to the right of the ball. It was crazy.

The funniest part is our coach went crazy. She was yelling so loud our fans could hear every word. She was screaming at him for the bad call, not giving her a warning, and that she's an 8th grader. Lol

The ref escorted my sobbing daughter to the sideline and the coach was letting him have it. She kept telling him she was 13 and in the 8th grade and that he should have warned her. The ref said "she's not in 8th grade" so our coach screamed at my daughter to come over to them and when she did she said "Faith tell him how old you are and what grade you're in!!"

Mind you this is while she and the ref are nose to nose. So my poor, sweet, weeping daughter looked up at him with eyes full of tears and snot bubbles blowing and said " I'm 13 sir and just started 8th grade." The guy stopped talking, looked at our coach and walked away. He was speechless.

After the game he felt terrible and apologized to our coach for not warning her. Lolol😄😄😄😄😄😄

My daughter was about 9 years old and we were playing at a tournament in Memphis against a team from Arkansas. It was a pretty dicey game. And the ref was... Well, we've all be there, right?

Anyway, a player on my daughter's team got a warning from the ref. My girl was getting shoved around plenty. Another midfielder was trying to push her off the ball and you could tell from the look on my girls face, she wasn't getting pushed off the ball and she didn't. And after the ball was passed, she may have pushed again. (Maybe...)

The ref stopped the game and said, "didn't I just tell you not to do that?"

My little girl looked at him like he was crazy and said, "No! You told her!" And pointed to her teammate. It was funny.

I think the first one was for impeding (silly call) in the DII state finals, but the best was in the DI semi-finals against a team our girls supposedly had no chance against. Our kids won, by the way. Anyway, they had an SEC signee and she was shut down all day. She did something that my daughter didn't appreciate, so she bumped her with malice. Afterward, my daughter sarcastically told everyone she was going to ask the ref for the card to have the girl sign it. It was pretty funny.

A of AAA was just starting competitive soccer she was about 10. (No soccer where we originally from) she was playing outside mid and it was getting heated. The other teams coach moved his girl to other outside mid position on other side of the field. We were watching game and in the next few mins we could not believe what we were seeing. "A" was at a dead run across the field towards the girl that had been fouling her. To our amazement she did not stop she ran straight over the girl and immediatley received a yellow. It was at that point that we realized she might make it as a soccer player. She earned that one.

First? No idea. Best one?

When she was 12 she was a blond playing for a south Texas team that was all Mexican or Mexican/American. Even the coach only spoke Spanish.

The team went to Austin, TX and played a semi-final game in a tournament against a team that was all tall, blond girls. It was a rough, physical game.

At one point a ball was going out of bounds and a girl from the other team was bending over to get it. My daughter came up behind her and took her out. I was appalled. I shouted at her, she turned and smirked at me. I was sure she would get a red card. Instead the ref pulled out a yellow card, then pulled the coaches and captains aside.

A parent came up to me and told me what had happened. The girl my daughter had taken out had been calling other girls on the team "wet back" and other terms. She put one of our girls out of the game (we later learned with cracked ribs). The parent heard one of our girls, after a remark by the other player, say in Spanish "I'm going to get her." He then heard my daughter respond, "No- I got this."

The ref, to his credit, saw and heard how things had been going. He pulled the coaches aside and told them he heard things on the field that he should not hear from 12 year old girls and things from the parents he should not hear at such a game. He turned to the other coach and told him "I can give that player a red card, but then I can also give some of your girls red cards for their language. A blond took out a blond and no one was hurt. Let's leave it at and play soccer. Next word I hear from players and they are ejected. Next dirty hit and the player is ejected. If this game continues the way it is going we will call it and both teams will be disqualified."

From that point forward both teams played good, physical soccer and we won 1-0.

I was not sure after the game if I should be mad at or proud of my daughter.

    • So much talk about an investigation about student record manipulation and then everything has went silent. Has anyone heard how the investigation is going?
    • Basically what you're saying is schools can basically bully students around and get away with it because they are protected. I agree to a certain extent but when schools decisions to keep knuckleheads on staff starts costing kids careers and a college education there is a problem. Our school system last week had a teacher supposedly push a kid and the parents went to the law and the teacher is suspended. So I wouldn't say that they can just do what they want without liability. This case don't pass the smell test because the coach had already been fired before and she got fired after a year on the job. Sounds like the student was right in this case on the outside looking in because the coach gets fired after one year. How many coaches get fired after one year?? Not many.
    • Problem with DB football goes beyond coaching. Like Waco said. Thr band is the main focus of their community and school. They have the resources to be a championship level team. Guarantee Ballard or Witten could have them nationally relevant at some point but everyone down to peewee would have to buy in and at DB we all know that would never happen.
    • I know the RB from OR he’s fast and has good hands. Is good on special teams also. Didn’t want to play defense over to the Ridge.
