Hardin County vs. Memphis Melrose

Hardin County is a very well coached and disciplined team. Melrose does play in a tough region, and has seen some very good teams this year. If you look at the match up from last year, it was a shoot out, with Melrose slightly edging Hardin. Hardin lost a good bit of talent from that team from last year, but has developed some talent for this year. I think Melrose will have the advantage in speed, so they will put up points. However, if Melrose can't defend the pass, then this game will likely be another shoot out. I'll give Hardin a slight edge because of home field advantage. Look for a close game though.

If the same Melrose teams shows up that put up 50 on Whitestation last week it's gonna be a long night for Hardin. Disregard Whitestations record because they had one of the toughest schedules in TN this year and no one in the Memphis area expected Melrose to come out with a victory, especially in that fashion. So the question is which Melrose team shows up? I'm picking Melrose +14

This years Melrose team is like last years Melrose team with one exception. It's better. The defense is improved. The offense is a nightmare to defend. Melrose has TWO D1 WRs to contend with. One will be playing at the U of M next year (Tony Pollard). The other, Jonathan Johnson , hasn't decided yet, but he has offers from Ole Miss, Missouri, Tennessee, Louiville, and some others.

If Hardin Co. is smart they won't kick the ball to them. Squib it, punt it out of bounds, do whatever you have to do to keep it out of the hands of the return guys.

The question to be asked is ... can Hardin Co. defend the pass? A shoot-out is in Melrose' favor. That's the LAST thing Hardin County should want to happen. That's playing right into Melrose' hands.

Not seeing much (if any film on Melrose) I'll pick them over Hardin Co. on "old school swagger" alone... The current Melrose staff likely doesn't believe they are supposed to lose to anyone outside of Memphis (I think they have those Mid 90s players coaching over there). If that's the case I look for Melrose to come out fast... If they can get an early lead and confidence they will pull out a tight one over Hardin Co. I say tight because I am sure Home Cookin' will not allow the game to get beyond a 18 point spread. No disrespect to Hardin Co.
