My next question is who would be the quarterback if it wasn't for mainord going there? Wonder if Grundy would fair better if he would have stayed..would sequatchies offense be as potent without him ?

Yes they would be fine without him, maybe better. The Soph. backup brings a duel threat Mainord doesnt. Also Sequ doesnt throw the ball unless they have too

I think dekalb is highly over rated..id say they are decent but they wont finish any higher then 4th in the district and might or might not make the playoffs..well Grundy plays york in a few weeks think i might just go to that game watch them yeller jackets possibly beat up on them york boys

We will make the playoffs, and we'll probably finish 4th in the region standings like you said. Overrated? How you figure? Nobody has been on here talking up DC, especially nobody that's actually from DC and a fan of the Tigers. We have all been saying we aren't very good.

Coach Trapp said it best when he said were probably the worst 3-1 team in the state. We will just benefit from playing in a weak region, and from already being a game up on York in the standings due to beating them head to head. IMO the absolute most games we will win this season is 7, but if we don't get our act together quickly we'll only win 5 games, which in all likelihood will still be good enough for 4th place and a playoff beating haha.

York and DeKalb will both beat Grundy by 14-20 points. Neither team may not be very good, but we aren't Grundy County bad either LOL. Yeah I'm aware yall are improving, but so is every other team in the region.

    • Never said I thought it was a smart decision. I'm scratching my head at it too.
    • If he wanted to play QB he should have either went to Heritage or William Blount and had a real good chance there. In stead he'll be exactly what he was going to be at Maryville. They already know who their QB is going to be in 2025 and it ain't going to be him.
    • Easier said than done. The man who ran for 250+ yards and 3TDs is gonna be back….and a lot bigger.
    • plus it removes the pressure around winning.
    • You are correct.   The teacher's pay scale is virtually the same in Knox County, now, as it is at Oak Ridge.   The coaching supplements are still higher at Oak Ridge, from what I was told, but not a huge difference.   Plus, Rusty is going from a position coach to an OC position, which is what he was at South Doyle and where his comfort zone is.  And from a special education teaching slot to a PE teaching slot.  There is a lot of positivity in that move without even considering the coaching aspect.   Anybody who sees something negative here is just looking for negativity to begin with.  But some live in that world.   Really good hire for Brent.  He now has two experienced and quality coordinators and can concentrate on being a head football coach.
