Not an Alcoa supporter by any means but year in and year out they are in the top ten in the state. they compete with Maryville and then Maryville wins the 6A crown. This year they might not have been but most years they are.

I look forward to that game every year. I remember a few years back when Alcoa jumped up and beat Maryville, which is saying something. Can anyone post the record between these opponents, let's say, over the last decade against each other?

Alcoa won 4 straight from 1988-91, but since has only won in 1993, 2000, 2009 and 2010, which is to be expected since Maryville has nearly triple Alcoa's enrollment.

Alcoa having such a good record against privates, something you always are quick to point out, is to be expected since Alcoa dresses nearly triple the amount of kids the privates they play dress. Definitely double. No big deal then, either...

4 wins in 22 years, now imagine they play 10 games a year at the 6a level and 5 more in a playoff run. Alcoa does not have the depth to play one way football that many games. Just a fact. Do they have years with super 1 or 2 athletes and can win 1 game verse a top 5 team, yes. But like Boise State, 1 game a year doesn't mean they could come to the SEC and still be a top program.

It just means Alcoa will have to use more of its 90 plus players. And we were definitely looking ahead during the Maplewood game. Everyone watching that game could tell.
