Obion County in NWTN.

The Dyersburg coach in question is not the head guy, but an assistant. Truth be told, I dont know who would want to go OC, hard to win many games in their classification with the players they have. Kendall and Cruce arent great options in my opinion. Dyer Co. didnt make playoffs this year and Cruce was supposed to turn GC around and that has yet to happen. Not suprised by OC wanting an "OC guy", alway had the impression that they wanted to take care of their own, even at the expense of being good.

It all comes back to the amount of talent on the field however.

You can win at OC, you have to get the best athletes in the school on the team. Execution is the key, look at Maryville, they don't have overwhelming talent and speed. It is all about the system. Also, they are similar to Hardin County, if they can win, so can OC.

I get what you are saying. And I agree that execution is a large part of the game. Maryville may not have the athletes of Whitehaven, Oakland, Hillsboro, or Blackmon, but they are certainly not hurting athletically. Also, football and competition are not part of the culture at Maryville, they are the culture. Hardin county also is not usually the worst off when it comes to athletic ability. I think you are comparing apples to oranges with the Hardin County comparison. I get what you are saying about Maryville, but again, they never hurt for athleticism.

I have been trying to figure this out for some time now.  I get torched on the 1A /2A pages for questioning how union city diverts enough students away from their city school to remain single a.  I contend its the best setup in the state for success.  There has to be some admission criteria, because the school has to plan budgets and know roughly the number of students they will have. It cant just be an open door policy where anyone can come to union city that wants to.  otherwise one year Obion may have 1000 students then the next year union city may have a 1000 students.  help me understand how this works.  Union city may be the only school with this advantage.  They are in the heart of the counties population. which is larger by far than any other single A city.they dont use open zoning to bring players in, instead, they use it to get rid of non-football playing students and keep numbers down to single A level.  help me understand how UC keeps from growing over the single a threshold, what criteria is used to divert students to Obion?

    • I am going to assume you are not a lawyer, and most reasonable lawyers would not say the lawsuit has a zero percent chance in court. I agree with you that a coach has the ability to dismiss anyone from a team. However, Ms. Winfree was never presented with the opportunity to present her witnesses and have them tell the coaches and administrators what they heard. A lawyer could better explain the lawsuit and the grounds to you. Before you start making wild assumptions about the lawsuit, would it be too much to ask that you do a little legal research first? The lawsuit is dealing with due process, loss of property, and defamation.   You can read the lawsuit here: https://bdnewsletter.files.wordpress.com/2024/04/doc-1-complaint-filed-4-18-2024.pdf
    • The administration took the path of backing the coach and whispering to people that the kid was a problem. The reality is that the kid was never a problem on a team or classroom. The player says she has witnessed who back her not saying the f-word.  Why did the coach make that story up and other stories? I am not Sigmund Freud and do not have an answer for the ex=-coach's behavior..
    • I think they have they coach they want close to being done. I guess we will all see how this plays out. I hope the hire a good one. There are some players in the box for the next coach to work with.
    • Going to grundle Troy Fleming?
    • I agree I don't think it will go to trial either, but I feel like that will be because no judge would deem this to warrant a law suit... If the school board settles, they loose and all coaches and schools loose too.
