OOLTEWAH AND OAK RIDGE MADE RHEA LOOK LIKE A FAST TEAM...NOW I HAVE BEEN LOOKING AT WEST ON FILM AND THE SPEED FACTOR IS NOT EVEN CLOSE...THESE SEXY SPREAD OFFENSES HAVE TO HAVE A GOOD SIGNAL CALLER TO BE SUCCESSFUL.....PAYTON MANNING IS NOT THAT GOOD IN FRIGID TEMPS...SO THE RUNNING GAME HAS TO BE A PRIORITY....AND BOTH OF THESE TEAMS HAVE THAT....I SEE EVEN IN THE VEER THAT WEST RUNS THAT THE BALL GETS LOST AND IT'S TRICKERY ON BOTH SIDES....

RHEA RUNS THE WING T TO A SCIENCE...AND THAT 3 MAN FRONT HAS WORKED SO FAR...THE SECONDARY IS WHAT CAN BE EXPLOITED...AND THAT'S WHAT PEMBERTON DOES...EXPLOIT THE WEAKNESS OF THE OTHER TEAM...AND WEST IS KNOWN TO TURN THE BALL OVER....

IF RHEA CAN MATCH THE SPEED OF WEST AND FORCE THEM TO TURN THE BALL OVER...THEY MAY HAVE A SHOT....

Alright thin...

Em Ray Kountee felers r stil playin the fooseball purdy daw gone well. I do not undrstnad how no uther teem has stoped thur offinse all yeer. Evurbode says that its a simple offinse. One week some big boy futbal guy from Oolteway said his quartrbak had a bad game, or maybe it waz two cold for his rich boys frum down south. Either way he is stil hangin around belitteling Ray's progres. Bottom line is that Ray is stil playin on Friday and his owls got tok two the would shed and are playin that roundball now.

I sur hope em boys in Evansvile play the futbal game good this week. I hear Cookievile is a purdy place. Thay even gots a colleje over thur.

Always good to see "legit 4.35 40" guy make an appearance in these threads.

I figured ESPN is a fairly reliable source.  As far as Marshal's speed.  No I can't quote or use ESPN as a source.  Guess you'll just have to gauge it yourself Friday night.  I believe my orginal statement was ABOUT .05 slower than Cottrell.

Well, it's two days until game time. There's a whole lot of turkey and good eatin' between now and Friday night at 7. I sure hope the Back Valley Boys are having a good week of practice.

I'm looking forward to seeing how our defense is going to handle Cottrell and the rest of the West speed. It sure sounds like nobody besides the Rhea faitful are giving us any chance. Like I said earlier in the thread, I like being the underdog. I think our boys see it as a challenge!

I think both of these teams are looking for respect and both are similar in that regard.

All year long I have heard "what a weak schedule both teams play" and "wait till they play this team" and both have taken care of business. Also, these teams are a combined 25-1 with the one being a loss to Maryville - both of these teams have to be doing something right.

Also it seems both teams offenses are looked down at for not being flashy pass happy offenses...yet both have made big plays all year and put up big numbers

One thing is for sure that whoever wins this Friday is going to be looked at as the underdog against the Ridgeway-Hillsboro winner and not be given much of a chance.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
