rballfan
Will this be worth going to watch? It sounds like Perry County has a small squad with most of the girls returning and Summertown is young, with a new coach. Who is the new coach? Who should come out on top? cbballfan
Should be a good game to watch. Seems that PC is off to a good start. They may not be big but they are tough. Summertown does not have a new coach (the boys team has new coach, former Eagle Wes long). Summertown is young, 9 freshmen on the roster. They have been starting 4 freshman and 1 junior. With so many young players, Summertown will have their ups and downs but should pay off later in the season and seasons to come.
PCsupporter4life
It's going to be a battle between these two teams. Freshman #14 Chynia Brooks (7 ppg), Juniors #41 Reagan Floyd (15 pts, 6 reb., 3 apg) and #12 Miranda Boutwell (16 ppg). These three girls have really come through for the Lady Vikings so far this season and with Seniors #3 Connor DePriest (5 pts, 3 reb, 4 apg) and #45 Leah Tangerstrom (4 pts, 6 rpg.) this team is probably the best Linden has had since the 2004 season that made it to the Final Four with head coach Kristal Edney winning Ms. Basketball that same year. PCsupporter4life
Linden won 39-23 over Summertown. Great game but lots and lots of turnovers by both teams and both teams struggled from the field and at the line. The game was tied 18-18 at the half. Linden out scored Summertown 21-5 in the second half.
RedTang
So what were the adjustments made at half time that changed the game so much?
Vandychris
Im not sure it is adjustments teams are makeing as much as it is youth. Summertown went up 11 on Richland last week inthe 2nd quarter and had to really fight for the winat the end. I do believe Richland even took the lead at one point. It has alot to do with being so young playing against older girls if I had to assess anything. It is definitely not a talent problem. RedTang
I was thinking that the defense against summertown might have changed the second half, like Perry county may have went to a press of half court trap. 21 to 5 was a pretty good swing so it just appeared like there was a change in play. Just curious.
PCsupporter4life
Lots of turnovers. Linden went to a 1-2-2 zone and Summertown started turning it over a lot. Summertown's only going to get better. They broke the press that before no other team could get through with ease last night. This team will keep getting better and better.
