Is Cleveland wrestling for February or are they not as strong this year? And body out besides debien?

I can't mask my surprise, most teams would proudly take 2nd at this tournament but the Cleveland teams of late would  undoubtedly have won this tourney in dominant fashion.  Losing to a WC team in a trad. format this early ultimately doesn't mean much now, but it will in Feb. as WC tries to keep the 'ship in middle tn.  But how accurate of a barometer is this showing, does it indicate a steep fall at an accelerated rate?  Can anyone specify any reason(s) for this showing is it an outlier or have the powers begun shift in Bradley Cty?

Proud to see freshman Cody Matthews win against a returning state placer. Colton Landers won a solid weight class at 126 pinning in the finals. Shout out to Ezra Taylor who pinned his way through the tournament in dominate fashion. Aaron Oliver was also very impressive with a quality win over a returning state champ Luke Hamilton in the finals. Big bad John Gaither was another Blue Raider knocking off a returning state champ with John Kramer in the finals.

Cleveland will no doubt be a different team once everyone is healthy, still not a bad start with 5 champs and 4 placers out of 13.

Yes you're right, Cleveland will have another state champ and state placer back in the line-up by then. Here's another perspective based on head-to-head results and placements/common opponents from yestersay's tournament. If the two teams would have faced each other in a dual with yesterday's line-ups Cleveland would have won 37-28 while giving up a forfeit and missing a state champ and state placer. Much closer than the two previous years but those three variables are quite the point swing. By the end of the season the scores between these two teams should be comparable to last year's, probably even a little closer, definitely not another state record lopsided victory.

We could would've, could've, should've all we want but yesterday WC came out on top. All teams will be different in February. Some in the lineup now may get hurt and others could be added. Some that are hurt now may be more suceptable to re-injury then. But overall most teams will be stronger in February, not just one.

Just putting things in perspective, which is what early season matches are for, gaining perspective of where each team stands, so you really can't ignore the obvious. I agree all teams should improve but not many will add a 3x state champ and another state placer between now and then. And I doubt Cleveland will give up a forfeit at that time as well. No excuses, just reality. Congrats on the Ooltewah tournament win. WC came out on top, can't take that away from you.
