Some out of state coverage...

The Woodland wrestling team continued its strong start to the season as the Wildcats wrapped up the Cleveland Duals over the weekend by winning their pool and taking third place to improve to 22-2 on the year.

“Overall it was a good day,†Woodland head coach Adrian Tramutola said. “We had a good performance I thought. Traditionally, in the past, we haven’t even gotten out of our pool in that tournament. So to win our pool and go out and rebound after a tough loss, our kids came back and took third, so for that I was proud of them.â€

Overall, Woodland went 4-1 on the weekend, defeating Heritage, Catoosa, 69-12, in the first round, Blackman, 56-20, in the second and McCallie, 37-27, to finish first in pool play.

Woodland then met Father Ryan in the semifinals and fell 34-23 before bouncing back against Cleveland, 45-32.

“They’re a good program,†Tramutola said of Father Ryan. “We just were a little flat that match. We probably lost three or four one-point matches that could have gone our way. We just didn’t do enough to win those matches. That was pretty much a determining factor in the duals. We rebounded that and wrestled Cleveland, who were the defending two-time state champs out of Tennessee, and beat them for third.â€

Dawson Woods had another good day in the 106-pound weight class and improved to 23-0 on the year. Brett Shedd and Chance Bishop also went undefeated at the event.

“We had some good performances,†Tramutola said. “We had some guys wrestle well and had some guys just not wrestle as good as they had been. I guess you can chalk that up to the competition, as well.â€

Woodland will face a quick turnaround as the ’Cats will visit Cass High today where they will see the Colonels and Marist.

Btw... Where's Ringold's former coach today? Also, Kenny Hill of Heritage?

Soms,

You do realize that the article you linked is actually about Woodland, CA and not Woodland, GA right?
