MARYVILLE 2015

Time for me to be serious and talk about next years team. I believe Maryville is set at QB. Austin Endsley played well as a sophomore last year. He is a good player. I also hear a lot about Dylan Hopkins hear he is a star in the making. Could see rotating QBs a lot like it was with Derek Hunt and Brent Burnett. I believe RB is set also. Joel Hopkins is the best one. If Jordan Ervin can stay healthy he will be very good. Isiah Cobb will be a future star. OL only has 1 starter returning in Lakin McCall. I know other kids have plenty of experience. You know David Ellis will have those kids ready. WR will be loaded as all starters will return. Losing Bryce Miller hurts at TE but I think Scottie Kenley will do well. Had huge catch in Oakland game.

On defense the DL will still be good despite losing Dylan Jackson and Ritchie Koons. Matt Young and Colton Murrell are good players. I expect kids like Isaac Keller,Elijah Davis,Michael Hall and Blake Oliver to step up. LB is set with TD Blackmon and Tyler Zwolinski back. Secondary will be good this year with Josh Yoakum,Cameron Russell and Drake Martin back.

Kicking game is in good hands with Luke Orren.

I expect Maryville to have another great team this year. They will find out how good they are quickly with Fulton being the 2nd game on the schedule.

And throw that Porter kid back in, I hear he's coming back as a LB.

    • Easier said than done. The man who ran for 250+ yards and 3TDs is gonna be back….and a lot bigger.
    • plus it removes the pressure around winning.
    • You are correct.   The teacher's pay scale is virtually the same in Knox County, now, as it is at Oak Ridge.   The coaching supplements are still higher at Oak Ridge, from what I was told, but not a huge difference.   Plus, Rusty is going from a position coach to an OC position, which is what he was at South Doyle and where his comfort zone is.  And from a special education teaching slot to a PE teaching slot.  There is a lot of positivity in that move without even considering the coaching aspect.   Anybody who sees something negative here is just looking for negativity to begin with.  But some live in that world.   Really good hire for Brent.  He now has two experienced and quality coordinators and can concentrate on being a head football coach.
    • He was pretty darn good for a freshman, but he will have a hard time seeing the field at Oakland for a good while, I’m afraid.
    • Dang I feel bad for the kid. I’m sure he loves his dad and wants to do anything for his dad but I don’t think he realizes his dad isn’t doing the best for his football career if he keeps jumping schools.
