Bump11
106: nothing huge. Nelson and Sesnan dominate, they'll meet today in the quarters. Should be fun. Mathews and Shelton have their hands full but pull out close victories. Grant, Haliday, and Moran highlight those who were eliminated 113: Navarro and Coggins don't break a sweat. Simon Pergande (WC) upsets Briar Potter but then falls to Maxwell. Bynum and Rogers go to battle wih Bynum pulling it out late with an escape and takedown in the last minute. 120: Blansit and Cyree look great with 2 dominate wins each. Zach Patterson upsets Jack Shrader (to ruin some peoples brackets). Patterson vs Blansit should be fun. Rowen (Ov), Smith (WV), and Arthur (Hou) all sent home early is a bit of a surprise. 126: Keaton Jones (Hou) upsets Jacob McClure (SD) but then falls to Enrique Gonzalez (Ross). Cyree gets all he can handle from Htoo. Landers uses a near fall in the 3rd to get past Zach Wilkins. Brothers and Crawford advance and will meet in the quarters in an interesting matchup. Berta and Yother are the biggest names of eliminations. 132: Debian began his quest for a 4th state title as he walks into the quarters. He'll meet freshman Trevor Rippy. Zarshenas and Iler should be fun to watch. Jose Intriago (West Creek) upset David Garabrandt (Bear). He'll get Austin Houser in the quarters. Can he do it again and make a semi final appearance? If so he will get the winner of Joseph Munoz and Corbin Hurley. 138: Ezra Taylor dominates. He'll get Heritage freshman Josh Teaster. Gonzalez vs Feuerbacher is one to watch in the quarters. They both looked fantastic. Rowland and Dickeson both advance and could meet in the semis. Stephen Scott and Emory Holcomb are eliminated. Although Holcomb was because of injury. 145: Brandon Oakley of west creek (IMO) upset Bledsoe and Levya to set up a 1/4 final date with Holloran of Franklin. Everything else went chalk as they say with all the expected winners. Beyer vs Bowen has the makings for fireworks. 152: No big news here. I would say this went chalk as well. Hamilton and Binns look great. Griffin Broyles eliminated by John Olivieri of Stewart's Creek in a bit of an upset. 160: Dustin Holmes pulls a minor upset over Danyon Edens. Edens would later be sent home by Ooltewah's John Chaffi in a major upset. All other expected quarter finalists advance. Look for Garrison to have his hands full with Begley. 170: Zach Linton pins Austin Hammons. He'll get Macon Webster in the quarters. Tate Holmes from Anderson Co. beat Bradley's Corey Gaitlin in a minor upset. Kennedy looks strong on his run to another state title. 182: Solomon and Rippy advance in dominate fashion as expected. Solomon gets Mt. Juliet freshman Nathan Walling who is a bit of a surprise quarter finalist. While Rippy gets Tullahoma's Dylan Pearson. Perry Baltz (WC) beats Alex Omessi (Rav) in overtime in what could be the match of the tournament so far. 195: Nothing huge here. Russell, Cumby, Strawn, and Bagley all advance. Riley Stevison of Cleveland is sent home. Strawn vs Bagley will be fun. 220: Kramer vs Gaither round 3 is set and everyone will be watching. Nick Wilson of Bolton looked strong in a loss to Gaither. Ric Kennett and Josh Filbey make easy work of their first 2 matches. Looks like they are on a crash course for a semifinal clash. Jacob Keltch is sent packing. 285: Boykin and Kennedy win. Eichner is pinned in the 1st round. Nothing really special although the big guys are always fun to watch and put on a show. Quarter Final predictions: 106- Hicks over Rogers Shelton over Williams Mathews over Manivong Sesnan over Nelson 113- Navarro over Hinshaw Coggins over Kost Payne over Briant Maxwell over Bynum 120- Blansit over Patterson Fuller over Davis Roa over McElhaney Cyree over Hernandez 126- Fuller over Hux Cyree over Gonzalez Landers over Knight Crawford over Brothers 132- Debian over Rippy Iler over Zarshenas Intriago over Houser Hurley over Munoz 138- Taylor over Teaster Feuerbacher over Gonzalez Rowland over Finch Dickeson over Satterfield 145- Russo over Cook Holloran over Oakley Bowen over Beyer Diemer over Fox 152- Hamilton over Underwood Sells over Jeffers Rutland over Mowery Binns over Sauls 160- Oliver over Jenkinson Enzor over Holmes King over McMahan Garrison over Begley 170- Kennedy over Reid Pinkerton over Holmes Linton over Webster Williamson over Rowland 182- Solomon over Walling Baltz over Thompson Brown over English Rippy over Pearson 195- Russell over Geltch Johnson over Lett Cumby over Walker Strawn over Bagley 220- Kramer over Gaither Yellen over Parker Kennett over Beard Filbey over Houston 285- Boykin over Ruth Hancock over Adams Whitfield over Townsend Kennedy over Henderson Gonna be a great day of wrestling as the A/AA and D2 tournaments start as well Edited February 13, 2015 by Bump11

anotherback
At 132 you think Intriago gets by Houser after an upset win over Garabrandt. Do you think he's on a roll or he was just that impressive. Houser not bad. Just asking. And What Did you think of the 3 freshman at 152 all getting first round wins. All lost in the second but I see that as a small sign wrestling is getting better in the state.
Bump11
A little bit of both. I think he is that good and I think he has momentum. I think it's huge that freshman are performing well. I mentioned a few but not all.
Bump11
Clearly my instinct was incorrect. Houser wins 8-
anotherback
Clearly my instinct was incorrect. Houser wins 8-2 Houser is tough. I totally missed it at 106. I thought Hicks would win but not pin like he has been. He's really impressing today. Cleveland has got to be happy with both Martin and Hicks the freshman. I'm not sure they were counting on many points from them. Both 2 wins in console.

Raven52
We cant talk about highlights without mentioning the chair incident! All I see is a chair flying into the mat. Then a coach from pigeon forge going crazy and the pigeon forge wrestler shove the ref! I think it was against the east ridge kid.

Booger
in short, the PF wrestler, defending state champion and who is one of the favorites, if the not the favoirite to win it all, gets the can for an illeigal move that injures the ER kid. Coach shows his backside and class to the whole tournament while at the same time fueling the anger of the kid. They were lucky that one of the 2 chairs that he kicked did not injure the wrestlers that were wrestling on the mat in which one of his chairs landed. In the end the kid put his hands on the ref, sent packing and at one point turns and runs toward the ref again before one PF's coaches grabs him. The kid was almost 100% assured a 3rd place podium finish which they obviously thought was a slap in the face, but because the coach could not maintain a since of professionalism and keep calmer heads on the floor; the kid goes home with nothing. PF did win the overall over Hixson in the end and compliments to them for staying the course. Booger's Fighting Irish send 4 into the Finals and come away with 4 Tiltes. 4 for 4 aint bad.
