To those regions, schools and individuals  that dominate year after year, I salute you.  You have the advantages of the best coaching, best feeder programs and best day to day competition.  To those of you who have a significant disadvantage on every level, yet continue to work hard and excel in spite of those obvious disadvantages I salute you as well.  Here's to hoping that someday all will compete on equal footing.

There is a distinct advantage to being in a program with good feeder programs. But if the administration at the high schools don't support the programs like they should the programs will struggle. MJ,Lebanon and Hendersonville have had good feeders programs for several years. So have Wilson Central and Beech. The differece is they continue to develop the wrestlers and teams are in the mix at the end of the season. Its because they get the support from their schools administration and community. The kids from the other schools didn't forget how to wrestle they just don't get the support. So kudos to the guys that still pull it off without the support that the other teams get. Kudos to the schools and community's that do what is right and support their teams.

One of those schools that you mentioned in sort of a negative way (Mt Juliet) may be the team to beat in Region 7 next year. They came in 3rd in the Region Individual, only lose one senior starter, have the most state qualifiers returning and have studs moving up. Looks like they may be getting it right. Edited by deadlift

Beech is definitely gonna be the team to beat next year in region 7. Mt Juliets not gonna have anything for beech or even Central.

Is Beech scheduled to have a dual with Father Ryan next year? Both teams only graduate a few wrestlers so it should be a great dual. Edited by cbg

We shall see. As good as Mt Juliet did in the Region Individual plus only losing one starter, they may be the team to beat in Region 7 next year. Some definitely don't want to acknowledge that for whatever reason. I believe they made an excellent hire before last season. Things look to be turning around big over there.

A good example of admin support is Cleveland, Soddy, and Bradley all having a combination of AD's, principles, and asst principles that were once coaches and will still come down and (unofficially) roll around with the boys. AND To have their superintendents attend matches says something too.

To contrast this, using Mt J as an example,,, no real regular tradition or luster leads to a high powered athlete choosing to play other sports over wrestling (e g , Weist). With that said, I definitely see an exciting 2015-16 season brewing for Region 7 and others around the state.

Steven Weist is wrestling in MS this year. He is one of the Mt Juliet studs moving up to HS next season.
