TheManOnTop,

I'll be releasing our lineup mid-week or so. I'm waiting on a few more confirmations and I have to meet w/ my team on Monday. We've been out all week and giving our guys a break, so I'll have more confirmations from my guys then as well. I can tell you that we're taking three squads: Gold, Red, and Black. Gold will be extremely competitive...as competitive I've been a part of since 2007 when Rusty Blackmon and I were a part of Team Chattanooga that won it. There were a few changes yesterday to the Gold lineup, but there are still multiple, multiple-time state champs and no fewer than a state medalist at every weight class. Red squad will be competitive as well and Black squad is more of a development team w/ up-and-coming and returning starters/state qualifiers.

We've got a lot of participation from several schools, so it should be a good time for all. I'll keep everyone posted.

Stay tuned...

Got called out on this one. Gotta give props to Jimmy Miller (Tullahoma then, Science Hill now), Ryan Cooper (Ooltewah then, East Hamilton now), and Mike Sutherland on that 2007 Team Chattanooga Dixie Duals championship squad. They were all huge help in the coordination, facilitation, and coaching of that team. Good times and definitely the beginnings of some great coaching relationships. Looking forward to the same this year as well.

I was on that 2007 team boy that was fun and eventful. Pretty darn tough team too!

Not sure if Coach Smith wants to keep it under wraps for the time being for any reason, so I will let him post on his time if he chooses. Things often change frequently while trying to put these things together. So he may be trying to nail some things down.

However, I will tell you that, as of now, the first team (Appy Gold) has state champions in 10 of the 14 weight classes! The others are filled with tough state medalists. I really think this team has a legit shot to take the title this year!

We also have a second team (Red) full of other state medalist and state qualifiers and a developmental team (Black) for tough returners and upcoming starters.

Should be a very fun trip, just as it was last year!

Sorry for the delay, as KingGreene mentioned, when dealing w/ so many different schools, coaches, and wrestlers, things tend to change daily.

    • Groves got the ball over 20+ times. His son arguably played the best for East in that game. 3rd and long multiple times and he came up big to continue a couple drives. Please shut up for the 3rd year in a row
    • And can you tell me who those two quarterbacks were, and every kid that was put into college from Bearden is a Bearden kid? It’s kind of why they graduated from Bearden.   and I would definitely not consider ETSU “waste”…
    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
