Baylor Wrestlers Murphy, Seagraves in National Prep Semis

Baylor 11th, Father Ryan 28th, McCallie 51st (tied)

On the strength of placing two wrestlers in Saturday morning's championship semis, Baylor School is in 11th place (46 pts) at the National Prep Wrestling Championship held this weekend in Lehigh, Pa.

 

Saturday Semis: Baylor junior and three-time state champ Michael Murphy has won three matches (two falls, one sudden death) and meets top seeded Matthew Colodzik (Blair Academy) in the semis.

 

At 170, No.5 Cayman Seagraves (Baylor) also is in the semis and meets No.1 seed Nick Reenan (Wyoming Seminary).

 



Baylor's No.6 Blake Sutherland (160) and Ryan Parker (195) both lost in the quarters, but are still alive in the consolations.

 

McCallie's Will Patton won his opening match, then lost to top seeded before going 2-1 in the consolation bracket (two falls).

 

Father Ryan also had No.11 Eli King (132) reach the quarters, but lost a one -pointer and then lost another one-pointer in the consolations.

 

In the quarters, No.7 Chalifoux lost to No.2 seed Carel Van Der Merwe (Blair Acad.), while teammate No.11 Eli King (132) lost to No.3 Quinn Devaney (McDonogh, Md.). King also lost in the consolation quarters.

 

MBA's Gabriel Elkin (No.12) reached the quarters before losing to No.4 Cody Trybus (Mt Saint Joseph, Md,), 3-0.

Murphy and Seagraves had some studs in the semis!! Wow!

Youthcoach, Blake looked much more aggressive, is his shoulder better?

Parker with big win over a Blair kid! Tennessee kids beating Blair Academy doesn't happen often !

Elkins wrestled great and so did Chalifoux in his loss! Everyone in Tn is proud of you guys

Hope Sutherland is ok. Tough way to lose by inj default. That kid is as tough as they come. I'm sure Daisy May will have something smart to say . Not sure why that killed wasn't called for stalling?

Man ... What a warrior! Hate it for him! I was so impressed with his toughness this entire tournament fighting through obvious pain.
