He was fired and parents with spoiled kids got thier way! Not only did they fire him from basketball they fired him from teaching!! He may have not got the job done in basketball but he was so much more of a influence in the classroom. He taught Bible and he was a great great role model. Its sad that a few parents don't like the fact thier athletes don't want to do what it takes to win. But life goes on and I am praying a good coach comes in and those players and parents whose kids are not as good as you think actually have to work to get better. A good coach won't put up with your demands and your little precious princess will have to earn it.

I'm sure everyone who watched Goodpasture girls play this year could tell who it is that voiced thier opinion. The only player who never passed the ball and shot about 30 shots a game, only to hit about 10% of her shots. Its very upsetting that it ended the way it did. I hope Coach Spann knows that their were people behind him. Coach Spann record speaks for itself. One bad season don't define a coach. And Goodpasture sought him out from Ezell and he got the girls program there back to winning, and this is how he is repaid!

Ouch! Upset much?  I'm sure Spann will get picked up by another private sooner or later.

I think Lynn Dearing (Volleyball Coach) has agreed to take over on an interim basis for next year. Most of the talent is in the 7-8th grade. Next year will be difficult.

She's a much better coach than her husband. : ) They don't have a lot of talent and will struggle for a few years being competitive unless they get some transfers. The schools they compete with for student athletes have more talent compared to their 7,8,9th grades. Hiring the right coach could be a huge benefit. Good luck to her!

I saw them play and they are very well coached. Once she gets a little more talent they will improve greatly in the wins column. I was told they have some talent in the lower school so the future looks brught.

Also, I've seen Watertown and TC play. Coach Price does an excellent job at WHS and seems to always have a big with size and great fundamentals.

TC, IMO, is about even with GP but a notch below WHS. TC also has a big post but not enough to handle WHS.

Price and Deering are quality coaches and maximize their talent. They have a game Tuesday at GP that should be a fun one to watch.

Anyone see the other district teams?

    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
