Pre-season Poll: Class 2A Region 5

Not sure that Riverside won't have some input...I know that y'all (WC) drilled them, but there's a lot of pride around that program, and a lot of desire to beat us there too. There's about 12 miles between our schools, and in the past we've played them some close games before we were very good and they were...now that we seem to be favored by most, I'm sure that we will get every ounce of blood, sweat, and tears that they have. 

  There are three teams without a loss in the region, and three teams without a win...something will give soon enough, but it could be Riverside in the hunt with one of the other 2-0's.

With them losing QB Drake for the season I believe that firmly puts yall as the superior team. They have more size on the lines but no where near the athletes as SH.

Region matchup's this week...Riverside/Scotts Hill...Waverly/Lewis County...Hickman County/Loretto. I think that the HC/Loretto game will be over before the half, but the other two may be better games than most expect. Riverside and Scotts Hill are bitter rivals...the Panthers have been whipped the past two weeks by good programs, but will give everything that they have against the Lions. Waverly has had an impressive season but is young at most of the skill positions, and might be overdue for that youth to show against a veteran coach with a decent team...Lewis Co.

My nephew heard that Drake Smith is going to try and play this week. I hope for his sake it's only a rumor. As of Friday he is still in a boot. Scotts Hill will not show him any mercy. We are 0-6 with Riverside and we are hungry! #GoLions

Believe Waverly is gonna take it this year and possibly a few years to come. That new coaching staff is really beginning to build a beast of a program .

Maybe...but Loretto is pretty terrible this season IMO. They got 7 turnovers from Lawrence Co and scored 7 points.. It may be closer than a mercy rule though.

Scotts Hill Qb really reminds me of Zimmerman.

Zimmerman looked great Fri night against HC. He's the healthiest he's been since his sophomore season as I understand it. Hoping he can finish out his senior season that way.

I picked Hickman County in the preseason poll based on their line players that were returning from last year. I understand there are a few injuries but this years line play is not even close to the same caliber.

Gonna be between Waverly and Scott's Hill looks like.
