Last week I predicted Maryville to win 42-14. We got our 42 but the Govs dropped one of their touchdowns in the end zone so I was very close. HVA has the second best defense to Maryville's so I don't see WB scoring at all unless it's against the second team unit. HVA 38-0. Was surprised Monday when WB had to play Maryville's freshmen with a combination of the JVand their freshmen and Maryville coaches had to scramble to find a game for the JV with Alcoa for Monday Night because of it.  This my friends is not going forward but backward. I know the same thing happened with Heritage this year also. That is one of the many reasons why you have parents pull their kids off the Titanic before it sets sail and send them somewhere else.

Barney,

I'm pretty sure that's because we don't have enough JV players to have a full JV team. The JV players are usually those that don't play on Friday nights and we only have 48 or so that dress on Friday nights and alot of those guys do play So we don't have alot of guys left over to play JV. However this year we have the biggest freshman team we have had in awhile. We are in this mess because we have had small freshman teams lately but we are actually on the upswing if we keep having these big freshman teams. As for HVA. They are 4-4 and 2 of those wins are against really bad teams. I'm not impressed by them. Their defense may be the 2nd best behind Maryville but they ain't nowhere near Maryville. This game will be close.

    • I have no affiliation with Maryville anymore outside of being a 2nd generation graduate from a large family of Rebel alumni. That relationship ended courtesy of the lame duck AD (a Bearden grad I might add) and the HBIC. That said, I could care less if a private school comes through and offers every promising athlete out of that school or any other school better opportunities.
    • A perfect example is for athletes at Clinton High School. I will completely understand, and hopefully everyone should understand why they want to, and as of right now, it looks like that’s going to happen in numbers over the summer.
    • I mean, that’s easy to say when it hasn’t happened to your school that often, if at all, but yeah, I think everybody should be for the student athlete or player. Whatever they think will help them or their athletic career, I feel like they should be able to do that, even if that means transferring schools. Now I don’t really get that when you have almost every offer you could want and then jump ship, but what can I say? I guess money talks.
    • I for one am all for it.
    • Covid killed the city because they chose not to play football in the 2020 season. Therefore, kids weren't able to practice and develop, and continuing to lift weights. Memphis basically had 7/8 graders, skipping a year, then playing 9/10 high school football. Now, there's only one team that has made a "dent" which will be Southwind (made it to the 5A semifinals last year).  If you want to go more suburbs, then it'll be Houston, which won the 6A state title, defeating Oakland Other than that, I agree.
