We are 7 games in. Undefeated. Rated #1 in polls (for what polls are worth.) Winning big over others. Some wondering is it because other teams are weak, or is Dresden that good. The team that was supposed to give us a good fight, if not beat us, well we just won big over them last night, Dresden 41, Trenton-Peabody-0. But Lions are still struggling with way too many penalties and needing improvement in other areas too. As good as we may be we have still not peaked yet. We will need a great effort to beat Union City in two weeks (this next wk is a bye). So I imagine some Lions will go watch UC play. Can't wait for the two best teams in 1A to face off against each other. Will be a packed stadium again. Come early or be ready to park down street and walk a ways. (We need to make that big field behind the visitor bleachers a parking lot!). Go Lions!

Some coaches dislike bye weeks a lot. They think it takes the edge off. I think UC's bye week is just before playoffs. That's good for helping any banged up players on Tornadoes get better. Playoffs gonna be sumin. Wonder how many underdogs will surprise higher seeds? As long as nobody beats our Lions, it will be an awesome playoff. Ha.

Well our bye week didn't cause a drop-off for Lions. We had a big win over the mighty Union City Golden Tornados and finally got that monkey off of our back. Yes I am biased & a homer but this Dresden team is getting better each game. They have adopted as a team motto, Unfinished Business, and 15 in '16. Lions are indeed taking care of business so far and are going one play at a time to reach 15 in '16 and our first Gold Ball. Many, many great teams out there and we'll for sure have our work cut out for us. Gotta rise to the occasion and stay focused & fierce. Lotsa weapons on Lions roster and we gonna be a tough out. No shame in losing to a better team, just means you got more work to do. But this year methinks we'll keep having the better team each game. Time reveals all. Wonder how much hotels are in Cookeville? :D

    • Biggest position to fill is QB. Kamden was special. A 1A team that can run and pass is very dangerous.
    • That would have been Coach Benjamin who was his legal Guardian and the DB coach.  I was the LB's Coach that was barely older than the players (I was going to UT for school and had started at Greeneville since my Sophomore year when Z coached there and he asked me to help coach)
    • Going on over a month now and still nothing, rumor mill or not I think a decision needs to be made. Maybe they don’t have anyone wanting it and maybe rumor mill don’t need it they are taking this long to come to an agreement.
    • Gibson County proved last year you can win it all with 6 players and if I’m not mistaken they only played 5 in the championship game. I would expect them to be good by end of season but I think losing Hart is a huge loss.  Summer camp gives teams a preview of what to expect and it’s exciting to see where teams are at. The Fillies return 3 starters and the 6th man that is 6’2” and I think she is going to surprise folks this season.
